I get questions about compensation so often, especially if I tell clients that they are compensating in particular movement.
Here's the thing. Compensation is not the evil thing you think it is. In fact it's totally normal.
There's a reason why our bodies have multiple muscles to perform a particular movement. Just think...if we didn't have these built in options, we'd be s**t outta luck. That means every injury we get we would just lose that range. Not ideal at all.
Whatever movement you need your body to do, it's going to do what it needs to do in order to facilitate it.
The only downfall is that you can get stuck in those compensatory patterns. You know...if you don't use it you lose it.
So ideally we'll want to restore the lost functionality.
