7 things I had to unlearn to become HER (and build Chaconia Candles):

1) Be Bold
I’ve always taken risks, but not always been bold about myself. Now I step into rooms, own my story, and speak about my candles without shrinking.

2) Accept Help
Hyper‑independence isn’t success. I stopped saying “I’ve got it” when support was offered, and let community be my strength.

3) Own My Value
I stopped worrying about my prices. They honor the craft and culture behind our Caribbean‑inspired, non‑toxic, handmade, sustainably made, vegan candles and home fragrances, celebrating who I am and the place I call home.

4) Boundaries Build Business
I unlearned saying yes to everything. Clear boundaries protect my energy, my art, and my customers’ experience.

5) Craft Over Comparison
I stopped measuring myself against other brands. I pour my energy into my craft, my customers, and my Caribbean voice and storytelling.

6) Start Before You’re Ready
I launched before I had it all figured out. I wanted more than a product, an experience that celebrates Caribbean culture, uplifts mental wellness, and respects the process. Momentum over hesitation.

7) Trust My Pace
I unlearned rushing the journey. Sustainable growth > overnight wins. I honor my season, my capacity, and my long game.

Last night’s “Wi Bold & Beautiful” with Carib Biz Network was pure intention. From the curated vendors to the powerful panelists, every detail was so thoughtfully planned. I left inspired, fulfilled, and so grateful for this community.

We saw familiar faces, met new ones, and shared stories that reminded us how scent transcends across islands. Our fragrances transported so many of you back to memories of growing up in the Caribbean and family traditions across the islands. That’s why we do this.

Huge thank you to and the entire team for creating a space where Caribbean women can build, thrive, and be seen. Moving to the States wasn’t always easy, but having this community means everything.

Yes!!! Earth Showers is coming back. Two years ago we tested this scent for six months to nail that rain feeling: the smell of rain kissing the earth. Growing up in Trinidad & Tobago, that scent was everything to me. There’s a level of calmness that the smell of rain brings. We released a limited run and it sold out, proving you loved it as much as we do. So we will most definitely be bringing it back as part of our ‘From Savannah to Sea’ collection. Coming to you soon.

Five years ago I started pouring candles to capture the rhythm of home, in my home. Today is moving day! I honestly feel like I’m putting on my big girl panties and doing the damn thing! Yass!!! The truck is packed with Chaconia Candles and the stories we’ve told through scent. Caribbean culture, heritage, and traditions at the heart. Onward to our new chapter. We’re moving! After 5 years crafting Caribbean escapes through candles and home fragrances from my kitchen, Chaconia Candles is graduating to a warehouse space.
