What an incredible day at our recent pop-up in Jersey City with Neighbors. There were a few heartwarming moments filled with the love and support by our community.

🌺 A super lovely and loyal customer told me she felt like she was “stalking” us to find our next spot! She came ready for our Spa Day candles and fragrance oils, and even brought her mom along! Hi mom! Hope you are loving your Spa Day hand and body lotion too! So nice to meet you! 🥰

🌴 An amazing artist, Tali Rose Art was across from me and sketched our setup in just five minutes, complete with our Chaconia Candles logo and even me. How cool is that? I will be sharing it in my stories later today, so lookout.

🌊 We had familiar faces popping by too! Two regulars dropped in just to see if I was there (literally the sweetest way to start my day - they were our first customers), and ended up getting our Island Breeze reed diffuser and snagging our Rum Punch room and linen spray. They joked about loving our Rum Punch smell so much that they needed it in some for of home fragrance. They are the cutest couple. Comment below if this is you and you see this post.

☀️A lovely customer from Jamaica (JA in the house) came earlier on in the day and experienced our scents. He had to leave but then returned later in the day to grab our Rum Punch candle. This warmed my heart to know he loved our candles and who we are so much, that he returned.

🏝️ And let’s not forget Jule who is a lovely soul. She’s from Montserrat (I can’t wait to visit one day) and we striked up a convo about the Caribbean islands, of course. Jule absolutely couldn’t get enough of our Unapologetic Hand and Body Lotion and couldn’t stop smelling her arms, so she grabbed our last one!

🥰 Even a fellow business owner stopped by to say hi and picked up our Breathe fragrance oil, sending me a message later sharing how much she loves it!

All this support fuels our passion and keeps us going. Thank you, Jersey City, for this amazing day! It’s moments like these that inspire us to keep creating. 🌺🔥

What a Weekend!

This past weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to pop up at Brooklyn Pop-Up for the theme “En Fuego,”celebrating our Caribbean diaspora! As a brand inspired by growing up in Trinidad and Tobago and our exploration of the Caribbean, this event was truly aligned with our vision to offer a sensory escape through our handcrafted candles, home fragrances, and body products.

It was our first time popping up at the Brooklyn Museum, and let me tell you, we were placed right in front of a stunning art piece that spoke to my soul! The beautiful colors, techniques, and strokes radiated energy, and I couldn’t help but feel inspired. It reminded me of resilience, energy, passion, and bright light, which gave me all the vibes I needed to showcase our work.

The atmosphere was electric, with an amazing DJ playing soca, reggae, and dancehall, hyping up the crowd. I wanted to jump in sooo bad with everyone, especially when I saw people waving their flags, but I danced by my table instead because it was busy. Lol. And of course, I waved my Trini flag too!

Meeting wonderful new customers was incredible and seeing loyal folks who love us and our brand was heartwarming. It’s incredible to see how our community is growing, especially as we’ve been popping up in Brooklyn more recently! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, purchased their favorites, or just connected with us.

A massive thank you to Brooklyn Pop-Up and the entire team for making this event seamless and unforgettable. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to celebrate Caribbean culture again with you!

Along the way, I have met some incredible young individuals who remind me of the importance of self-care for the younger generation. Recently at a market, one adorable girl had such a radiant smile after trying our Spa Day Lotion and Vibe Perfume. She turned to her mom, who approved the purchase, and said, “Mommy, I feel like a big girl now!” 🥰 It was heartwarming to witness her joy and confidence in embracing self-care at such a young age.

In our fast-paced world, promoting well-being and relaxation for kids is more important than ever. Self-care practices can nurture their mental wellness, helping them develop healthy habits that last a lifetime. Our products are thoughtfully crafted to be safer options for everyone, including our young people. Our hand and body lotions are made with organic coconut oil, sunflower oil, and aloe vera, ensuring that we use natural, nourishing ingredients that are gentle on their skin. Plus, our perfumes are created using organic sugarcane alcohol, which is safe for the skin, one of our major organs. As caregivers, we want to protect our children’s health and development at all costs.

I cherish moments with my own children because I believe that teaching them the value of taking time for themselves is essential. Incorporating self-care routines into their lives helps reduce stress and cultivates a mindset focused on relaxation and well-being. By encouraging kids to embrace self-care, we empower them to navigate the challenges of growing up with resilience and confidence.

Doing It Scared!

Back in April, I stood in beautiful alongside our three luxury candles where we held an amazing photo and video shoot. Reflecting on that moment now, I’m reminded of when I first launched Chaconia Candles. At the time, I knew nothing about the candle business, home fragrances, or body products. Despite this, I decided to dive in and DO IT SCARED. This mindset has driven every part of our journey, from participating in pitch competitions and launching our luxury line to applying for grants, applying local boutiques and larger retail stores, and so much more. I believe I draw from the resilience of growing up in Trinidad and Tobago and also moving across the waters in my mid 20s and living in a new country and culture all by myself.

Being consistent and doing it scared have allowed me to learn, grow, and share. Our journey is not just about business success but about sharing our deep love for the Caribbean and elevating the Caribbean diaspora. We are committed to culture appreciation, supporting mental wellness, and embedding sustainability in everything we do.

It’s hard to believe it has already been one week since we launched our Island Escape Luxury Candle Collection! This collection that was just a dream, came to life after about a year of dedication and ideation. We are incredibly grateful for all the love and support we’ve received, both at our launch event and in the days following.

The event was a dream come true, filled with vibrant energy, vibes, and joy. Our fireside chat led by sparked inspiration, the decor by transported us to a tropical paradise, the beats from our DJ brought the vibes, the food by brought exquisite Caribbean cuisine, and the enchanting sounds of the steel pan played by set the perfect mood. 🎶 Thank you again for your event management ensuring this event was truly a dream. Thank you Kiki, Maggie, and for an amazing venue and for all that you did before and during the event to support us.
