I think I redeemed myself! I asked Jax, ‘Does it smell like freedom?’ and he hit me with a very honest ‘…maybe?’ 🤣 But then off camera he goes, ‘Can I have this in my room?’ 🤗

Our ‘Carnival’ really does smell like freedom: bright, vibesy, and joyous. The kind that makes you want to dance in your living room and forget the to‑do list for a minute. I would say it’s Jaxon approved.

Today, we launched A Love Letter to Carnival: Smells Like Freedom. This limited edition candle is inspired by the effervescent joy and freedom of Caribbean Carnival, crafted to bring warmth, rhythm, and resilience into your home.

Carnival rose from emancipation. It was an act of cultural reclamation where the formerly enslaved transformed defiance into vibrant expression. Mas, moko jumbies, calypso, and soca turned streets into stages of memory and possibility. This candle honors that legacy: the right to take up space, to celebrate survival, and to shape joy from struggle. It is a fragrant love letter to freedom in motion, ancestry, artistry, and the collective pulse of the road.

2026 is the new 2016. Take me back.

In 2016 I led employee engagement, DEI, and communications at a NYC nonprofit, this work was part of my foundation as an entrepreneur and I didn’t even know it at that point yet.

My daughter and I met Olympic legend at The Armory, and my heart burst thinking of the pride he brought our country on the world stage. 🇹🇹

I ran from the cold winter to Trinidad & Tobago and lived my best life at J’Ouvert, played mad with my hubby and best friend , enjoyed good steel pan music, and spent fun times with family and friends in the north (where I’m from) and south (where my hubby’s from).

It was one of my best running years and I PR’ed… and I’m getting back to that this year.

We visited Antigua for the first time and it is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. Next time we are going for a longer time.

I threw a surprise 60th for my dad in Canada (where some of our family lives).

I also started prioritizing self‑care with my first full body scrub and bath. A great way to start lol!

Day‑one fam, thank you. New friends, welcome! Hi, I’m Jenna, founder & CEO of Chaconia Candles. Born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹, I pour our culture and traditions into every candle, home fragrance, and body product.

Five years ago, I started this to create a sensory escape to the Caribbean, bringing a piece of my home to yours. In 2022, I left my corporate job and went all in (emotionally, financially, physically) to bring Caribbean‑inspired scents to you.

We’re e‑commerce based, but we love a good pop‑up so you can experience the islands in person. My team is growing… let’s just say they’re “volunteers” 😂 and help when they can. They include, my family, in‑laws, kids, and my wonderfully introverted husband who still shows up. Lol

No big warehouse. No heavy machinery. No mass production. Just handmade, small‑batch, clean candles, home fragrances, and body care inspired by T&T.
