Black Cake is our holiday heart.

By far one of our favorite scents to pour and one of the most loved by our community during the holidays. Black Cake (lovingly called Rum Cake across many Caribbean islands) is the Caribbean’s signature celebration dessert. Families soak dried fruits such as raisins, prunes, cherries in dark rum, sometimes FOR MONTHS, then bake a rich, boozy, spiced cake that tastes like home and cultural heritage.

We captured that memory in our candles and home fragrances. The reaction we hear most at pop-ups: “Wait… that smells exactly like Black Cake!”

A month ago I got to pop up at , an inspiring creative space in a former school building. There are studios on floors 3-5, amazing rooms made for making. I met .blooming.lotus over the summer at Hamilton Park at another event and she later invited me to Elevator’s quarterly pop up. It was one of my first events back after two months away, and the JC community I love so much showed up. It even doubled as a little birthday moment for her. :) Special love for (sorry we didn’t get a photo) and who came out to support.
This is where I met Angel, owner of . Angel is a talented product photographer. Her LEGO work caught my eye, then her portfolio sealed it. I’d been praying for the right person to capture our holiday collection, and God aligned it. She did an amazing job. Grateful for divine connections and this creative city. Our Holiday Collection “De Season” was captured so beautifully and you can feel the Trinbago and Caribbean vibes. Which Caribbean-inspired candle, room spray, or diffuser you can’t wait to try?

Last night was about more than awards. At by , we were nominees for E‑commerce Brand of the Year and proud sponsors of the Caribbean Scent Experience. We filled the room with our customer fave, Incense Bliss in the form of tea lights at every touchpoint: the tables, bar, bathrooms, and check‑in. The glow, the vibes, the music, the pride, the empowerment and being with our Caribbean community felt like everything.

Then came a beautiful surprise: the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award.

What this means to us:

Still riding the momentum from the New Jersey Small Business Summit hosted by the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Montclair State University. A full day of learning, real talk, and community, plus so many actionable gems.

Workshops: Building Your Brand on a Budget and Resilience Through Change. Keynote by Lloyd Pearson (LWL) brought the fire. We wrapped with “Getting Ready for the World Cup,” thinking bigger about timing, partnerships, and visibility.

My key takeaways:
- Refine the brand kit and stay consistent.
- Color matters: Orange signals health, happiness, friendliness, energetic fun; Red signals love, excitement, and warmth.
- Lead with authentic storytelling.
- Build the right team, collaborate smart, and be bold and brave.
- Use resources, leverage apps, and plan with partners ahead of major moments.

Grateful for the connections with fellow entrepreneurs and the orgs that support small businesses. Here’s to progressive movement with our community.

Wholesale restock drop‑off ! 📦 I love Jersey City, and Montclair has my heart too. We popped into the beautiful shop at the historic Lackawanna Station to deliver a cozy fall refresh: candles and fragrance oils for their wellness baskets, all infused with Caribbean‑inspired scents that feel warm, grounded, and transportive. Chad (the owner) even wrapped a bouquet for us, proof that this partnership is all heart, craft, and community. If you’re in Montclair, swing by and shop our fall collection.

Today’s Order Review

We are so grateful for our community, YOU!
We are sending out a few orders today. First order is from one of our partners Chad, owner of . He ordered fall candles and fragrance oils for their wellness spa baskets!
Next order was from a loyal customer who got our Spa Day candle and room and linen spray (fresh + clean) and our fall Orange Rhythms room and linen spray (spiced citrus). Our next order was an Incense Bliss candle (Palo Santo and Sandalwood, giving you an earthy island calm). Another day-one ordered 5 candle tins, mostly fall scents and her fave Spa Day scent.
