Why does my toddler hit?

Their brain can’t stop them yet. The impulse-control part is still under construction. And, I’m sure that their language development has hardly started too.

I don’t like you.” 😔

When a 5-year-old says it and means it — it’s not bad behavior. It’s a message.

At Fasttrack Languages, we don’t try to stop the behavior. We find what’s underneath it. Usually it’s a child who feels overwhelmed, unseen, or doesn’t have better words yet.

Once we find the root, we give them the language to express it — and the behavior changes.

Is your child falling for the “Phonics Trap”? 📚

Ever seen your child read SKATE perfectly, but then call the word WHAT...”Wait”? 🧐

They aren’t “getting it wrong”—they are actually being smart! They are applying the Silent E rule (/a/ + consonant + /e/ = long A) to a word that doesn’t follow the rules.

The Quick Fix: Use “Heart Words” ❤️

Explain that some words are “rule-breakers.” Instead of sounding them out, we have to learn the tricky parts by heart.

In WHAT, the ‘a’ makes a different sound than they expect.

The Tip: Draw a tiny heart over the “a” in WHAT to remind them: “This part doesn’t play fair! We know this part by heart”.

Try this today: Write SKATE and WHAT side-by-side. Ask them to find the “Rule Breaker!” 🕵️‍♂️

Your child is ready to speak Spanish! Give them the space and activities that prompts them to use the language naturally.

Don’t be afraid of speaking Spanish to them if you are a Spanish speaker.

Don’t be shy to use it with your children if you think you are proficient in the Spanish language.

Don’t be afraid to use the bit of Spanish you know if you have learned some before in school or college.

Any space at home is good for Spanish! Any routine at home is good. Just choose a space, a time, a day, an hour and be consistent- your child will follow if you do it consistently.
