💡 A new study demonstrates a significant decrease in torque using screw tightening force due to aging.

A new study led by Prof. Zeev Ormianer evaluated the effects of various aging processes on the accuracy of torque controllers and the degree of bacterial micro-leakage on the implant-abutment complex (IAC).
The study evaluated spring and friction-type torque controllers and IACs with conical and hexagonal connections subjected to chemical, mechanical, temperature, and pressure-aging methods.
The results, published in the journal MDPI, show a significant decrease in torque after ten days of aging. Significant bacterial growth was found in all groups, regardless of the aging method. IACs with canonical connections showed more, though not statistically significantly more, bacterial leakage.
