🕷️ Tick season is here—know how to remove them safely!

If you find a tick attached to your skin, it’s important to remove it the right way to reduce the risk of disease.

✔ Use fine-tipped tweezers
✔ Grasp the tick close to the skin
✔ Pull upward with steady, even pressure
✔ Clean the area after removal

❌ Avoid using heat, petroleum jelly, or other home remedies

Stay tick-aware when spending time outdoors—check yourself, your kids, and pets after being outside.

We’re proud to share that Grafton now has its first public Narcan box installed! A powerful step toward protecting and caring for the community. 💙

👏 A big shoutout to Grafton for taking this important step and showing what it means to look out for one another.

💡 What is Narcan?
Narcan is a safe, easy-to-use medication that can reverse an opioid overdose in minutes. It has no effect if opioids are not present, and it can be the difference between life and death while waiting for emergency responders.

By making Narcan accessible, we are giving everyday people the ability to help in an emergency because anyone can be a lifesaver.

You spoke, we listened. Many community members were unsure of where they could get free Narcan in Jersey County. We have been working hard over the last several months to provide multiple locations that have it available for free during their business hours.

We wanted to make it available 24/7 if needed or wanted as well. Grove Memorial Park in Grafton, IL. houses one of the first of those boxes. A big thank you to the City of Grafton for allowing us to provide this life saving resource. Whether you need it or want it, it is now available to you 24/7.

Listed are other businesses that house it during their regular business hours, free of charge, no questions asked:

- Jersey County Health Department
- Jerseyville Public Library
- Jersey County Sheriff's Office
- Salvation Army
- Got Faith
- Koen Counseling and Wellness Center

Myth: I only need to see the dentist if something hurts.
Fact: By the time it hurts, the problem has likely been brewing for months. 🕵️‍♂️

Regular checkups aren't just for cavities; they are screenings for oral cancer, signs of vitamin deficiencies, and even heart disease risks. Prevention is cheaper (and way less painful) than the cure.

Is it time for your 6-month tune-up? Your body will thank you. 🦷✨

Are you checking for oral cancer once each month? This 2-minute self-examination could help you catch the early signs and save your life. All you need is a mirror, a good light source, and clean fingers!🪞💡🖐️

The earlier the cancer is detected, the easier it is to treat and the greatest chance of recovery.

If you have an ulcer in your oral cavity that does not heal on its own within 14 days, schedule an appointment with a dentist as soon as possible.

To lower your risk of oral cancer:
➡️Avoid or stop using to***co
➡️Limit how much alcohol you consume
➡️See your dentist regularly for exams (once every 6 months)
➡️Protect your lips against sun exposure
➡️Eat a diet full of fruits and vegetables
