Don’t let a tick make you sick. Be aware this

Ticks live close to the ground where there is tall grass, shrubs, and leaves. They wait for an animal or human to walk by to grab on to. You may come in close contact with ticks while doing outdoor activities in tick habitats, like camping, fishing, hiking, mushroom hunting, or walking your dog. 🍄🥾🌲

Wear insect repellant that contains DEET and stay out of wooded areas and places with tall grass and weeds. If you go where ticks live, wear long sleeves, long pants, and walk in the center of trails. When you come back inside, check yourself (and your pets) for ticks. 🌾

The Child Health and Safety Fair is this Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 9-11am at the Susnig Center. Don't miss it!

Earlier this month, our Illinois team was proud to host Andres Fernandez, Executive Director of Serve Illinois, at one of our newest partner organizations in the state – Jersey County Health Department. It was an incredible opportunity to showcase strong partnerships and Recovery Corps impact with the state commission!

Special thanks to Jersey County Health Department for hosting this visit, and for their partnership in this work!

RSV typically decreases in March, but this year we are still seeing elevated rates of hospitalizations and ER visits for RSV.
We will continue offering RSV immunization to infants through April 2026.
Please make sure your infant gets the RSV immunization this year. Call your pediatrician, or JCHD at 618-498-9565 x 325 to schedule.

Nearly 100% of infants will contract RSV. While symptoms can be cold-like, they also can be more severe and even life threatening. Visit lung.org/rsv to lear...
