2 nights ago there was a crazy sound coming from the sky in Niantic. It was loud enough that I heard it over the t.v. around 10 p.m. It even woke up a friend 3 miles away in Waterford. Unfortunately the recording does no justice for thhe way it really sounded.
NO it wasn't construction, a airplane or anything aviation derived, or Millstone, or a animal, or thunder. It was nothing I ever heard before and couldn't find anything similar online. And what sounds like wind on the recording is actually part of the noise as it would ramp up in loudness. It was a breathly groaning sound.
