The Lee Thompson Young Foundation recognizes that stigma lies at the root of solitary suffering that often accompanies mental illness and believes that society must rise up to confront this issue by understanding more about mental health and ways to support those directly and indirectly impacted. The Lee Thompson Young Foundation recognizes that raising mental health awareness and acceptance will improve human health as a whole.

Our breathwork focus this week is on Diaphragmatic Breathing, a technique that promotes deep, healthy breathing by engaging the diaphragm. 🌱✨

🔍 What is Diaphragmatic Breathing?
Also known as "belly breathing," this technique encourages breathing deeply into the abdomen rather than shallowly into the chest. It activates the diaphragm, allowing more oxygen to enter your body and calming your nervous system.

Benefits of Diaphragmatic Breathing:

- Boosts relaxation and reduces stress
- Improves oxygen flow to the body’s tissues
- Enhances core stability and posture
- Helps manage anxiety and nervousness

🫁 Place one hand on your chest, the other on your belly, and feel the difference as you breathe deeply. 🫁

Breathe with intention and share the benefits of this simple yet profound practice with a friend. 🌬️

Box Breathing involves inhaling, holding, exhaling, and holding again, all for equal counts (e.g., 4 seconds each). It's a great practice for finding balance, especially during stressful situations. Think of it as a "reset" button for your nervous system.

Benefits of Box Breathing:

- Reduces stress and promotes relaxation
- Improves focus and concentration
- Balances the autonomic nervous system, helping regulate heart rate
- Increases lung capacity and breath control

Add Box Breathing to your daily routine this week to experience a greater sense of calm and clarity. Take a moment, breathe in for 4… hold for 4… exhale for 4… and hold for 4. Repeat and reset as needed!

Tag someone who could use a moment of calm in their day.
