Please be careful. This “Sergeant” from Charleston Police Dept. called my daughter and left her a voicemail to return his call concerning a civil case. She called him back, no answer, she left a voicemail. He returned her call and proceeded to tell her she had missed a jury duty case. She was going to be charged x amount to rectify it. This was a 25 minute conversation. He knew personal information about her. It all sounded very legitimate. He wanted her to pay a percentage over the phone. She refused. He said so you want to do this the criminal way? She said she would go and pay it in person. He said he would send her an email. Then proceeded to tell her he was sending the police to her house. To be ready to be arrested. She called me frantic and crying. I called Charleston county police. Told them what was going on. The police officer was gracious enough to allow me to get Katey on the phone with us so she could tell her it was a scam. It took her awhile to calm down and her nerves to recover. This is going around, along with the unpaid ticket text. Please be aware! This is the email he sent. It is definitely believable. If something like this happens please hang up and call the police station.
