🌟 Virtual Surgical Planning: Where innovation meets precision in craniofacial surgery! 🖥️💀

One of the things I love most about my job is utilizing advanced technology to create customized solutions for every patient. "Virtual Surgical Planning" allows us to see and shape the future outcomes before surgery even begins. We then 3D print custom implants that are used in the operating room to complete the reconstruction. It's like designing a masterpiece with science and skill - huge shoutout to the biomedical engineers who help us plan these cases! 💡💻

Skin cancer and reconstruction are a big part of my practice, and for many plastic surgeons. Sometimes we send “frozen sections” during surgery to prove that we’ve gotten all of the cancer. In this case, our pathologist was kind enough to show the medical student and myself the slides under the microscope, in a teaching moment! We were thrilled to find there were negative margins! 🔬🙌🏼🙏🏼

Once we know there are negative margins, we can head back to the operating room and complete the reconstruction. 💪🏼👃🏼

Wow, I saw this article come across my social media feed this morning, it seems a lot of people are moving to Upper East Tennessee. It is definitely a beautiful area and wonderful place to call home.
