Wow, I saw this article come across my social media feed this morning, it seems a lot of people are moving to Upper East Tennessee. It is definitely a beautiful area and wonderful place to call home. We are definitely seeing this trend in my office, as patients relocate here from New York, California, and many other areas and need local care from a Plastic Surgeon. It’s just amazing to see the joy after the transformation of a cleft lip repair. I’ve been on a medical mission in Lesotho, in Southern Africa, and we’ve been able to treat many patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, burn contractures, skin malignancy, facial trauma and other plastic surgery conditions. I’m working with Christian Health Service Corps, and my friend Dr. Steve Kyota, who is the head of surgery at Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital here. Steve and I met when I was a medical student on an international rotation in Cameroon, where he was training in general surgery and head & neck surgery with PAACS. It’s wonderful to reconnect with Steve in person, and see him thriving. More updates can be found on my travel blog .health.service.corps
