We are excited to announce that we are hosting our annual leadership elections TOMORROW, April 25, 2023 at 12PM EST in R107! We currently have openings for President Elect, Secretary/Communications, Social Media/Historian, and Events/Recruitment.

For those interested in oncology pharmacy, there is no greater organization and no better team to get involved in! It is also a great opportunity for those who want leadership experience or simply want to learn more about oncology pharmacy. These roles are quite low-stress, but they are very flexible to allow you to do what you want in them. We're a pretty new organization, so you can be the one to push it to new heights!

Yesterday, we partnered with ETSU AAPP to bring Dr. Maya Leiva, PharmD, BCOP, APh to speak to the students at Gatton about the difficulties members of the LGBTQIA+ community can face when trying to access healthcare!

Dr. Leiva serves as a hematology/oncology clinical pharmacy specialist at Inova Health System, and she has extensive experience advocating for DEIA Health Equity, traveling the nation speaking at schools and conferences. She gave a fantastic presentation about how we can better serve these patients and influence change for enhanced patient care. This is a topic that we don't learn much about in school despite its importance, and we're very thankful to Dr. Leiva for taking time to speak with us!

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with ETSU AAPP to host Dr. Maya Leiva, PharmD, BCOP to come speak to the students at Gatton about the difficulties members of the LGBTIA+ community can face when trying to access healthcare as well as to learn what we can do to influence change for better patient care. Dr. Leiva practices in Washington and travels the nation speaking with schools and at conferences.

This meeting will take place this coming Monday, April 10 at 11AM-12PM in R103. You can also join virtually through Zoom (Room Code: 811 1283 8724). We hope everyone will be able to make it - it's bound to be a fantastic discussion!

Recently, we had our October chapter meeting, where our very own Dr. John Bossaer, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP spoke to us in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🎗️

It was a great event, and Dr. Bossaer gave many interesting insights and answered all our questions. We're happy to have such a knowledgeable oncology pharmacist here at Gatton! We hope you all enjoyed the meeting (and the food!), and we hope to see you at the next one! NCODA

And with that, we’ve reached the end of the ! Thank you so much to NCODA and everyone else who worked so hard to make this conference a success. We had an absolute blast, we made many wonderful connections, and we learned so much - including about some great fellowship and residency opportunities! Looking forward to next year’s conference already!!

Now that we have an extra day here… it’s time to explore Orlando!! 🧭

Day one of the complete!!🥳

So far, we have had a fantastic time, with great speakers, delicious food, wonderful connections, book signings, numerous booths, interesting posters, and tons of fun! 🔥🔥

Plus, it all takes place in an enormous, beautiful hotel - we wish we could just live here! Here’s to another amazing day; we’re super excited about all the breakout sessions coming up! Lots more photos to come!! 🤩

Recently, we partnered with ETSU Phi Delta Chi to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital! In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to support St. Jude and the wonderful, life-saving work they do on understanding, treating, and defeating childhood cancers.

This year, our two organizations joined together for the annual St. Jude Walk/Run, where we had fun walking on Johnson City's Tweetsie Trail while raising money for a great cause! We raised hundreds of dollars for St. Jude on a beautiful Saturday - and we may have met a friendly horse along the way! Huge thanks to for collaborating with us on this, and remember: early detection of cancer can save your child's life!

Kimi is a P3 student who was inspired by one of her heroes to be a pharmacist who is there for her patients and their loved ones who are struggling with cancer. She believes that NCODA will help lead her down that path!

We had our very first chapter meeting earlier today, where we shared some of our plans for the upcoming semester! From the upcoming NCODA 2022 Oncology Career Symposium to our partnership with PDC for the St. Jude Walk/Run to our next meeting with Dr. Thigpen speaking on pediatric oncology, we are so excited to learn more about oncology pharmacy with you all!
