My top 6 fat loss tips!
1. Your body only requires a certain number of calories (food). If you consume more than what you need you will store the excess. No matter what ANYONE tells you this is the science behind how the body works.
2. Your body uses the calories (food) that you eat/consume first as energy before any excess (fat) from the over consumed (more than it needed) from the past.
3. Carbohydrates DON'T MAKE YOU FAT! This is a myth that so many people have used either out of purposely drive misconception or lack of knowledge. I would advise to cut down on refined carbs but not all carbs are equal and should not be treated as such. Now I'm not trying to pick on anyone here but remember I told you that some of the things you hear you may not agree with or may not like but it's the truth. All calories count and contribute to the total calories your body needs in a day. It's not the specific calorie or macronutrient that matters, it's the total that ultimately makes the difference when it comes to fat loss.
4. Eating unmeasured amounts of fats won't make you lose fat. Remember the body always uses consumed calories before stored (fat) calories. Here is the question that changed it all for me: "If you want your body to use the fat that you have on your body, and if scientifically it always uses what we eat as energy before anything stored, then why would it make sense to over consume the exact thing that I am trying to lose?" Now before you throw whatever device you are reading this on across the room, I’m not saying that healthy fats are bad for you and that you don’t need them. I'm simply saying that hopping on a trend thinking the amount doesn't matter is again going against how the body works from a scientific aspect.
5. Protein should always be a priority. The leaner the better! Protein is arguably the most important, yet most often overlooked of all macronutrients. It's not a primary source of energy like carbs and fats; instead, protein is what makes humans, literally! Everything from muscles and bones to microscopic cellular machines, hormones and neurotransmitters are derived from protein. With so many bodily functions dependent on it, it is clear that practically everyone could benefit from getting a bit more in their diets.
6. Hydration is crucial!! A study was done showing that 75% of Americans are in a state of chronic dehydration. Dehydration causes fatigue and it's said to be the #1 cause of midday fatigue. It has also been shown to put stress on cognitive function, concentration, short-term memory as well as increased feelings of anxiety and irritability. Hydration can also help boost your metabolism. Although the evidence is limited, your metabolism could benefit from drinking cold water. In fact, one study found that drinking cold water helped boost healthy men and women’s metabolic rate by 30 percent. The researchers concluded that the body expended more energy heating the cold water, which resulted in the boost in metabolism.
