♥️🌎 Today is World Heart Day.

A global reminder that our hearts deserve care, protection, and attention — every single day.
🫀 Heart disease remains the #1 cause of death worldwide.

The good news? Most cases are preventable.
Here are 5 small choices that make a big difference:

✨ Choose fresh, whole foods over processed.

✨ Take a brisk walk or light activity each day.

✨ Know your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers.

✨ Get quality sleep to recharge your heart.

✨ Don’t ignore symptoms — listen to your body.
Your heart beats 100,000 times a day.

Let’s make every beat count. 💙

❤️ 💖Celebrating 100 Years with Agnes 💖

Today, we celebrate something truly extraordinary; our beloved patient, Agnes, has turned 100 years old!

For a century, Agnes has filled the world with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering spirit. She’s lived through generations of change — and her smile reminds us what really matters: love, laughter, and taking care of the heart that carries it all. 🫀

Our Karing Hearts Cardiology family is honored to walk alongside her on this journey. Seeing her reach this milestone inspires all of us to cherish every heartbeat, every hug, and every moment. 💗

Please join us in wishing Agnes the happiest 100th birthday and in celebrating a life that proves how powerful a healthy heart (and a joyful soul) can be. 💙

💙We’re excited to welcome Nurse Practitioner Ryan Judson to the Karing Hearts Cardiology team!

Ryan began her career as an RN in the medical/surgical ICU at JCMC after graduating from ETSU College of Nursing. In 2010, she earned her MSN/ANP from Vanderbilt University and has spent the past 15 years serving patients as a nurse practitioner in cardiology.
🫀 Why Cardiology?
“Cardiology combines the challenge of complex medicine with the privilege of making a direct impact on patients’ lives. I love the balance of acute, life-saving care and long-term preventative management. Most of all, I value building meaningful relationships with patients and their families while guiding them through some of their most vulnerable moments.”
Ryan is passionate about delivering the highest quality cardiac care while fostering open communication so patients feel empowered to be active participants in their healthcare decisions.
✈️ Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and spending quality time with friends and family.
We’re proud to have Ryan on our team — and we know our patients will be too! 💙

🩺 Cholesterol Series #2 — Know your numbers!

High cholesterol has no symptoms.
You can’t feel it building up in your arteries — but over time, it can quietly increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

That’s why routine cholesterol screenings are so important, even if you feel completely healthy.

📌 General guidelines:
• Most adults should have their cholesterol checked every 4–6 years.
• If you have risk factors (family history, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking), your doctor may recommend testing more often.

🫀 Why it matters:
Early detection gives you time to make small lifestyle changes — like eating heart-healthy foods, moving more, and managing stress — that can protect your heart for years to come.

Don’t guess. Know your numbers.

Cholesterol Series #1 — What is Cholesterol?

🫀Cholesterol is not all bad. Cholesterol is a natural substance your body needs to build healthy cells, produce hormones, and aid digestion. But not all cholesterol is the same:
• HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) — the “good” cholesterol that helps remove excess cholesterol from your bloodstream.
• LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) — the “bad” cholesterol that can build up in your arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

👉 The balance between HDL and LDL is what matters most.
That’s why regular screening is essential — high cholesterol often has no symptoms until it causes serious problems.

📌 This month, take a proactive step: talk with your provider about when to check your numbers.

🇺🇸 Our offices are closed today. But we wanted to leave you some Heart-Healthy Tips for Labor Day!
Here’s how to keep your heart in mind while you make those memories:

🥤 Stay Hydrated – Keep a water bottle handy, especially if you’re outdoors in the heat.
🥗 Add Some Color – Alongside your favorites, add a side of fresh fruit or veggies for a nutrient boost.
🚶‍♀️ Keep Moving – A short walk, a quick game, or even dancing at the BBQ keeps your heart happy.
🧂 Be Mindful with Salt – If you’re enjoying salty snacks, balance them with water and fresh options.
💤 Get Your Rest – Even during holiday fun, your heart benefits from a good night’s sleep.
🫀 Why it matters: Your heart works hard for you — a little balance helps you enjoy the holiday and protect your wellness for the long run.
Wishing you a safe, happy, and heart-healthy Labor Day!❤️

📣 Meet Manda Royse, one of our amazing Cardiac Device Specialists here at Karing Hearts! 💓
Manda has been with us for over 2 years and says her favorite memory was realizing how special the Karing Hearts community is. Coming from a large metropolitan hospital system, she quickly noticed the close-knit atmosphere we share—not just among staff, but in the way we build meaningful relationships with patients. “It felt like joining a family,” she says. 🫶

💡 Fun Fact: On a medical mission trip to Coya, Peru, Manda tried cuy (guinea pig)—a local delicacy! While it wouldn’t be her top dinner choice, she loved embracing the culture and finds food one of the most meaningful ways to immerse herself in new places. 🌍✨
🍕 Favorite Food Spot: Rocky’s Pizza — her go-to for a perfect slice!
🎲 Free Time Joy: Sunday night dinner & Dominos with her grandparents. ❤️
We’re grateful for Manda’s expertise, compassion, and adventurous spirit. She’s truly an example of the heart behind Karing Hearts! 💙

🍋This National Wellness Month, let’s squeeze in some heart-healthy flavor!

Citrus fruits — like oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and limes — are packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber that help:
✅ Lower blood pressure

✅ Reduce “bad” LDL cholesterol

✅ Support healthy blood vessels

✅ Boost your immune system
💡 Pro tip: Add fresh lemon to your water, toss orange slices into your salad, or snack on grapefruit halves for a sweet, heart-smart treat.
🫀 Why it matters: Eating more fresh fruits and vegetables — especially colorful ones — is one of the simplest ways to protect your heart.
What’s your favorite way to enjoy citrus? 🍋 Share it in the comments!
