This year, our theme is "Preparedness Starts at Home," highlighting the importance of individual responsibility in emergency preparedness. Here are some key actions you can take:
1. Know Your Risks: Understand the potential hazards in your area and how they could affect you.
2. Make a Plan: Create a family emergency plan that can be put into action quickly.
3. Build a Kit: Stock up on essential supplies to sustain you until help arrives.
4. Join a Team: In light of the one-year anniversary of Tropical Storm Helene, consider joining a Community Emergency Response Team for training, skills development and response.

National Preparedness Month culminates on September 30th with National Preparedness Day! It's a day of action to strengthen community readiness and reflect on the steps you've taken to ensure your family's safety.

We have recently been informed of potential fraud targeting our Veteran patients using loaned iPads from the VHA Digital Divide Consult Program for telehealth appointments. Reports indicate that a small number of Veterans have been contacted by phone and falsely told they owe money for their VHA loaned iPads and data plans.

Please be advised that under no circumstances will Veterans be asked to pay for or charged for the use of VHA loaned iPads or their associated data plans.

If you are contacted by anyone requesting money for the VHA loaned iPad or data plan please contact Connected Device Support & Reconciliation Team, at 1-833-472-5678.
