Mekkah's Meadow Apartments Mekkah's Meadow is a HUD-subsidized apartment complex for very low-income seniors ages 62 and above. Metropolitan Property Mangement, Inc.

(MPM) was incorporated on February 25, 2011 and is an IRS designated 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. MPM's mission is to improve the quality of life for low to moderate income persons. MPM specializes in systematic and sustainable management efforts that ensure safe, decent and affordable housing to our clients by applying the highest standards of professionalism, competence and integrity.

We are a low-income apartment community for very low-income seniors ages 62 and above. Our apartment complex is brand-new. We offer all ground-level, handicap-accessible apartments with energy star refrigerators, self-cleaning oven/ranges, central heat/air, and emergency pull cords. security motion-detector lighting, and an on-site laundry room. The apartments are located in a beautiful country setting on the outskirts of Johnson City, in Carter County. Enjoy the beautiful country sides and mountain views!

We are working on this and will post updates as they occur. Currently NETTRANS will provide medical transportation with at least a day's notice, and general transportation with at least a month's notice, during the hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Elizabethton Senior Center is also offering transportation at a low cost of $10 per year. They go to Wal-Mart every Tuesday, or various grocery stores every Thursday. For more details, please feel free to call the office. Paratransit, an XTRA service of the Johnson City Transit, offers transportation to handicapped individuals with 2 days notice, for $2 each way. In order to qualify, you and your doctor must complete an application. Affordable Taxi is offering special rates to our tenants and will even transport pets to the vet. Affordable Transportation to areas outside the immediate Johnson City area costs extra, but the owner is willing to work with what our tenants can afford. General information

To qualify for housing, you or your spouse must be at least 62 years old. Your monthly income must be less than $17,100 per year if you are single, or $19,550 per year if you are a couple. This calculates to a limit of $1425 per month for single persons and $1629 per month for a couple. The application process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, or longer, in some cases. When you apply, you will be asked for your residential history for the past three years. We will need you to authorize us to check with your landlords in the past three years for rental references. We will also check your credit and criminal history. Once you have passed this initial screening, you will be contacted and asked to come back in to complete the verification process. This is where we obtain and verify information about your income and medical expenses in order to compute your rental amount. Rent is based on income and can vary significantly from one person to the next. Once all your information is verified, we will let you know what your rental amount is and offer you an apartment.
