Water is one of those things that's technically possible to simulate, and almost always looks off.
The light scattering, the way droplets catch air, the randomness of impact, simulation gets close, but compositors can usually tell.

ActionVFX just released two new water collections: Water Fountains and Water Sprinklers. 30 clips each, shot at up to 6K, pre-keyed, available in ProRes, R3D, and EXR.

Flower sprays, foam jets, cone sprays, impact sprinklers, multi-stream arcs — with continuous and pulse rhythm variants so you can match the timing of whatever edit you're cutting around.

Nuke 17 deserves more attention than it’s getting.

If you’re supervising USD-heavy shows or managing multi-shot sequences, this release touches parts of the pipeline that usually cause quiet friction.

Selective USD import in GeoImport means you’re no longer dragging entire scenes into comp just to access one piece of data. You can control payloads, prim activation, and graph depth before import. That alone changes how clean your scripts stay across iterations.

Gaussian Splats now live natively inside Nuke. For teams working with volumetric capture or environment reconstruction, that removes external round-tripping and keeps more of the shot inside comp.

BigCat extends machine learning beyond per-shot experimentation. Training across tens or hundreds of images opens the door to sequence-level roto and cleanup workflows that are actually reusable.

Then there’s performance. Deep renders up to 1.88× faster. GPU scaling gains that compound across shots. Native ACES 2.0. These are the kinds of improvements that don’t make splashy headlines but absolutely affect delivery schedules.

Every month, someone reminds us why this challenge exists.
In February, Wesley Junior, is exactly why this works.

He didn’t just “add” to the practice plate. He rebuilt it.
