At Rainbow Community Care, we believe caring for others starts with caring for ourselves. Investing in the health and well-being of our team is a priority—because when our teammates feel their best, they can provide the best care to those we serve.

Our Employee Wellness Committee recently hosted a Lunch & Learn with Pine Hill Farm focused on building healthy foundations through gut health. This session is part of our bi-monthly wellness initiative, where we highlight a different aspect of well-being. March and April’s focus is nutrition, and this month we explored simple, practical ways to support gut health.

Of course, learning is always better with good food! Our team enjoyed a gut-healthy meal along with a fun kombucha tasting flight, allowing everyone to try a variety of local flavors.

A huge thank you to these local businesses for their generous donations:

Shoe's Brew Kombucha - samples for our tasting flight

Frannie's Market - samples of fresh kefir

Ourganic Farms - samples of local kraut

These contributions allowed our team to explore new gut-healthy foods! You can find these items at local farmers markets and Pine Hill Farms for purchase.

We’re grateful to collaborate with local partners who share our commitment to health and wellness. Together, we’re creating a culture where our team feels supported, nourished, and empowered, so we can continue providing compassionate care to our community.

How do you honor a master craftsman when his memory begins to fade?

Meet Roberto Esparza, a man whose hands spent 60 years stitching masterpieces for golf legends like Tony Jacklin. Today, while dementia has claimed many of his words, it hasn’t touched his trademark smile or his adventurous spirit.

By attaching a child-sized golf bag to his walker, his family and Rainbow Hospice Care nurse Kimberly Walker found a unique way to speak Roberto’s language.

The result? A "kit" and a smile that says more than words ever could.

Today is National Doctors’ Day, and we are taking a moment to honor the incredible physicians who dedicate their lives to the health and well-being of our community.

At Rainbow Community Care, we are privileged to witness firsthand the compassion and expertise of our medical team. We want to extend a special thank you to our Medical Director, Dr. Shagun Saggar, and our dedicated hospice physicians: Dr. John Basarich, Dr. Vikram Goyal, Dr. Zachary Richardson, Dr. Harold Anschuetz, and Dr. Sandhya Shah. We are profoundly grateful to the individuals and families who invite us into their lives, trusting our doctors and staff to provide comfort, dignity, and specialized care during their most significant moments.

We also want to recognize Dr. Fred Gremmels, who has provided invaluable guidance as a member of our Board of Directors for over 16 years.

To these doctors and all those serving our neighbors—thank you for your tireless commitment, your clinical excellence, and the comfort you provide to our patients and families every day. We truly appreciate everything you do!

Rainbow Palliative Care is growing fast, and we’re looking for a compassionate Medical Assistant to join us in making a real difference.

This isn't your typical clinic job. As part of our community-based palliative care team, you’ll be a vital bridge for patients and families navigating serious illness. You’ll handle everything from coordinating complex care and managing clinical data to being that supportive voice on the phone when our patients need it most.

Why you’ll love it here:
- Mission-driven work - help improve quality of life for our neighbors during their most delicate moments.
- A true team environment - Work closely with nurse practitioners, social workers, and nurse navigators in a culture that truly values your input.
- Growth & impact - be a key player in a program that’s expanding to meet our community's needs.

What we’re looking for:
If you have your MA certification, a heart for service, and love staying organized in a fast-paced clinical setting, we want to meet you!

Don't call her Marlene. At 89, M**f Gentz isn’t just "getting by"—she’s driving herself to the store, cracking jokes, and living life entirely on her own terms. But behind her fierce independence is a secret weapon: a specialized support system that many people mistake for end-of-life care.

Read how M**f is using Rainbow Palliative Care to stay out of the ER and in her favorite "music room."
