Quietly doing things right... Established in Johnston in 1991, Johnston EyeCare (now Metro EyeCare) has been a part of the Johnston community for decades.

The first 10 years were in Village Square Mall, and we have been in our present location since 2001. Prior to locating in Johnston, Dr. Petersma established a practice in Des Moines at 42nd & University immediately following his residency. After four years, he moved it to Johnston. Beginning in 2016, Johnston EyeCare became Metro EyeCare when Dr. Jeff Neighbors joined Dr. Petersma and took over the practice in Johnston and added the Altoona location. We are also a member of the Vision Source association of Optomety practices, a select group of doctors based on a commitment to excellence.

Good morning everyone! We are continuing to move forward with our re-branding campaign. As part of this process we are migrating all of our websites and social media pages to fall under the Metro EyeCare Associates name. Soon you will hear "Metro EyeCare" when the staff answers the phones, and you will see our Metro EyeCare logo at our locations. We have not been bought out, and there has been no change to the ownership/management team. We simply want to present one unified brand and patient experience across all of our locations.

Thank you for your patience as we continue through this time of growth within our practice.

Time for a huge practice-wide update! We have been doing a ton of work behind the scenes and have fantastic news for all our offices and patients

Rebranding! Our Johnston and Altoona offices are being rebranded to fall under the "Metro EyeCare" name and logo. This has been in the works for 5 years, but we decided the time was right for us to start reworking our logos and signage so that all the offices have one look and one feel.

Dr. Petersma will continue seeing patients in the Johnston office and Dr. Neighbors will see patients in both Johnston and Altoona.

New website and social media. As part of our rebranding effort, we are also revamping our website to be a better representation of both our offices. We will be consolidating our social media pages under the Metro EyeCare logo and name as well. This will allow all our patients to have the same experience when searching for our offices.

New technologies and equipment. We are constantly working to improve the eye care experience for our patients. We have added new equipment and new services in all our offices to better serve the eye health and vision needs of our patients.

We are so thankful that you have entrusted us with your eye care needs. We look forward to continuing to provide the highest level of care and personalized customer service.
