Happy National Physician Assistant Day!

Meet Caroline, our outstanding physician assistant. She graduated from Bryant University five years ago with one mission in mind: helping others. Drawn to the field of medicine, Caroline shared that being a PA allows her to practice at a high level while spending meaningful time with patients and collaborating across the care team.

We wish National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was every week! We had a blast celebrating it last week with treat trolleys, a catered lunch, a painting night for staff and a field day!

Field day was the highlight of the week, featuring a dunk tank and a mobile petting zoo. Team members — including our CEO, human resources director, therapists and administrative supervisor — braved the cold water, while others enjoyed cuddling with goats, sheep, a pig, a mini horse and more.

Our patients are the reason we celebrate National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, so we wanted to do something special just for them. We hosted a Paint & Sip event, where Mackenzie, daughter of our business development director, guided a group of patients in painting a beautiful lighthouse.

The patients loved the experience, sharing that it helped boost their confidence and gave them something new and exciting to enjoy.

Team members enjoyed drinks and treats as a small thank-you for all their hard work and dedication to helping our patients recover and get back to what matters most to them. ☕🍪

Our facilities management director, Steve, is transferring to Encompass Health Bluffton, just outside Hilton Head, South Carolina.

To kick off National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, we’re proud to introduce Brittany, our dedicated therapy manager at Encompass Health Johnston. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire’s occupational therapy program in 2015, Brittany spent six years in acute inpatient rehab before joining our team. Her passion for patient-centered care led her to Encompass Health. She started as a lead occupational therapist, and through hard work and determination, recently stepped into her new role as therapy manager.

“I love that Encompass Health has opportunities for professional growth and development,” Brittany said. “I am so happy to be a part of an amazing team.”

We’d like to introduce you to Father Anthony, who recently discharged from Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital after making remarkable progress in his recovery.

A priest for 40 years and a pastor for 20 years at a church in Cranston, Rhode Island, Father Anthony came to us after a serious fall at home injured his back and left him and unable to walk. During his stay, he worked hard and made incredible strides — going from immobility to walking with a walker, transferring independently from wheelchair to bed, using the restroom on his own and doing more than he ever thought possible.

“This place is different,” Father Anthony said. “People are more kind, more present. This is one of the finest places around in Rhode Island. The food is very good, and staff are quick to answer my bell when I need something.”

Father Anthony, thank you for trusting us with your care. We are so proud of your progress and wish you all the best in your continued recovery.
