Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center had the pleasure of welcoming students from 11 school districts across Cambria, Blair, & Somerset counties to the campus for a full day of interactive learning and engagement with providers, physicians, and healthcare professionals from various specialties. The students heard from speakers who work in various fields including nursing, physical therapy, food services, the lab, pharmacy, medical imaging, emergency medicine, and many more. 🩺🥼💉

To conclude the day, the students were each educated on Stop the Bleed by our Trauma team, equipping them with life-saving skills to carry with them.

Special thank you to the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 for continuing to support the growth and development of future healthcare heroes in our communities.

Taylor, a physician assistant at Conemaugh Physician Group - Gastroenterology, was nominated for the award by the family member of a patient Taylor recently treated at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

"Taylor came to my mother's room and thoroughly explained what the problem might be, why she was experiencing the symptoms she was having, and what the next course of action should be. He spoken in a way that was professional, easy to understand and comforting. He was easily accessible and responded to the nurses' messages in a timely manner, even checking his messages when he was not on call."

This Friday, our community will come together to recognize Blue & Green Day on April 10 as part of Donate Life Month. This special day is dedicated to raising awareness about the life-saving impact of organ, tissue, and eye donation.

By simply wearing blue and green, you can help honor organ donors, recognize the strength of donor families, and show support for the more than 100,000 people in the United States currently waiting for a life-saving transplant.

We encourage our community, staff, and partners to participate on April 10 and help start conversations about the importance of organ donation and transplant awareness.

Congratulations to Marlayna Miller, RN, the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center! 🌼🩺

Marlayna, a registered nurse in the Maternity Unit, was nominated for the award by a new father who had nothing but praise for her professionalism and kindness during a time of uncertainty for them.

"Marlayna exceeded every expectation we had — not only as patients and family members, but as fellow professionals. From the very beginning, our experience was filled with uncertainty and unexpected turns. What truly set Marlayna apart was how she advocated for my wife. She listened closely to her concerns, validated her feelings, and ensured her voice was heard by everyone involved in her care. She never made us feel rushed or dismissed and consistently went above and beyond to make sure our questions were answered and our needs were met.
