‼️ NAMI Illinois to offer NAMI Homefront virtually. ‼️

This 6-week education program is designed for families, caregivers and friends (ages 18+) of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions.

Recovery is a journey and there is hope for all people affected by mental health conditions.

This program provides the opportunity for mutual support and shared positive impact. You will experience compassion and reinforcement from people who relate to your experiences. Through your participation, you have the chance to help others grow.NAMI Homefront teaches you:

✅️ Strategies to care for yourself, including managing your stress
✅️ How to support your family member with compassion
✅️ Ways to identify and access federal, state and local services
✅️ Where to find information about the latest research and information on mental health, including posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression and substance use
✅️ Current treatments and evidence-based therapies
✅️ Tactics to navigate the challenges and impact of mental health conditions on the entire family
✅️ Crisis management, problem solving and effective communication

Registration is open for NAMI Homefront.

NAMI Homefront is a free, 6-week education program for any adult with a loved one who is an active-duty service member or veteran experiencing a mental health condition. The program provides education, practical skills, and connection with others who understand military family life. Classes are free.

Program details:
• Wednesdays, February 4–March 11
• 6:30–8:30 PM
• Virtual

Registration and interviews are completed on a first come, first served basis until the class is full.

Last fall, NAMI Will-Grundy was selected as one of the beneficiaries for the inaugural Out of the Black 5K Sunset Walk/Run in Plainfield, which hosted more than 100 participants with food provided by Moe Joe's.

Yesterday we gathered with community partners at AllenForce and Plainfield Township - Illinois to learn more about opportunities for collaboration.

Registration is now open for our Family-to-Family class!

Family-to-Family has been described by past participants as "life changing," "the best thing I've done for myself lately," and "the reason I changed my perspective and how I react to a mental health crisis."

All these benefits can be yours too!

NAMI Family-to-Family is an educational program for family, significant others and friends of people living with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidenced-based program. Research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to an individual living with a mental health condition.

NAMI Family-to-Family is taught by NAMI-trained leaders who have been there, and includes presentations, discussion and interactive exercises. This 9 week class is offered at no charge. You are not alone- there is help and resources available.

Sometimes, we just need someone to say, ‘I see you,’ and everything instantly feels a little bit better.
I see you doing your best. I see you feeling like giving up, but you never do. I see you. I see you when you shine brightly and boldly, and I also see you when you shine quietly in the shadows.
Sometimes the most meaningful thing someone can give us is their presence. No fixing. No advice. Just showing up. Life can feel heavy and overwhelming, and in those moments, knowing someone is willing to sit with you—quietly, patiently—can mean everything. We all have the ability to do this for one another.
