Today, we honor Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark, a pioneering psychologist whose work forever changed the fields of mental health and civil rights.

Dr. Clark’s groundbreaking research on the psychological effects of racism on Black children played a critical role in the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision, helping end school segregation in the United States. Her work highlighted an essential truth: mental health, identity, and equity are deeply connected.

Her legacy reminds us that representation in mental health matters—and that healing begins when all voices are seen, heard, and valued.
