Ryan Day, head football coach at The Ohio State University, “There have been so many tragic stories about young people feeling like they can’t get themselves out of a situation. I want you to know there is always a way out as long as you communicate."

Day acknowledged that men, especially athletes, tend to experience a unique stigma when dealing with mental health issues, and also said, "Understanding that you have physical health and mental health, and that you need to make sure you're taking care of both."

Last week, Ryan Day, head football coach at The Ohio State University, sat down with students for a candid talk about mental health. The event, organized by the Wellness Advocacy student organization, was attended by Ohio State students, faculty and staff as well as Buckeye Paws therapy dogs. Great to see more resources like this in our city. This location offers essential on-site forensic exams conducted by trained SANEs, alongside dedicated advocacy and follow-up support services. Keep this in mind for someone that could benefit from this new location with its Sexual Assault Support Services program, 24/7 advocacy, forensic exams, and trauma-informed care to adult survivors.

You’re safe with us. The Family Crisis Center has been providing support in the Northeast Arkansas community for nearly 40 years. We provide shelter, advocacy, and an extensive range of support services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. From providing a safe...

I recently sat down with the team at KAIT8 to talk about something many of us deal with this time of year: Storm Anxiety. ⛈️

It’s completely normal to feel your heart race when the sirens go off, but there’s a point where that fear can become dangerous. If your anxiety causes you to "freeze" instead of taking action, it puts you at risk.

We discussed how to:
✅ Distinguish between helpful "readiness" and paralyzing fear.
✅ Create a concrete plan to reclaim a sense of control.
✅ Know when it’s time to reach out for professional support.

Huge thanks to Region 8 News for helping spread the word. Don't let fear keep you from being prepared!

As severe weather becomes possible over the next couple of days, a Jonesboro mental health expert says storm anxiety is common — but warns there is a point where it can put people in danger.

I was lucky to sit down with the team at Region 8 News to discuss how we can approach holiday loneliness with a sense of agency. We discussed how focusing on your thoughts, behaviors, and planning can help you regain a sense of control during this season.

Thoughts: Practice self-compassion. View loneliness as a "nudge towards connection" and remember that we move forward with grief rather than just moving on from it.

Behaviors: Use healthy distractions to break the cycle. This could be a new hobby, a favorite show, or simply finding a "third space" like a coffee shop or library.

Planning: Build hope by having something to anticipate. Planning time outside of home and work helps reduce isolation and gives you something to look forward to.

While the holidays bring joy and family gatherings for many, the season can intensify feelings of loneliness for others who are separated from loved ones or grieving recent losses.

Which setup is best for individuals with ADHD?

We often fall into the trap of debating the single "best" ADHD space: is it the perfectly minimalist setup, using tools like the visual timer shown in the first image to reduce overwhelm, or is it the stimulation-rich environment covered in fidgets and snacks seen in the second?

The truth is that coping is not a standardized test; it’s a highly customized flow because ADHD needs are both person-dependent and setting-dependent. What provides necessary stimulation for one brain might cause paralyzing decision fatigue for another, and what works in a quiet home office may completely fail in a chaotic workplace.

When we ignore these unique variables and force ourselves to use a "universal best practice" that contradicts our specific wiring or current context, the failure after buying that "special ADHD planner" or recommended book creates shame, making us feel broken rather than just realizing we were using the wrong tool.

Stop comparing your strategy to others; whether you need external simplicity for internal clarity or sensory chaos to fuel focus, the only valid system is the one that supports your executive function right now. 😁🥰

Glad I could contribute to the conversation! With TikTok making headlines again, I shared some thoughts with Jonesboro Right Now for their article on youth mental health.

Amidst a unanimous decision by the U.S. House of Representatives to ban TikTok nationwide, mental health experts discuss concerns over social media’s negative impact on young people’s well-being.
