Happy Occupational Therapy Month! 💙✨

We’re so proud to celebrate the heart of what we do—helping kids grow, learn, and thrive in their everyday lives. In pediatrics, occupational therapy is so much more than play (even though play is our favorite tool 😉). It’s about building the skills that help children succeed at home, at school, and in their communities.

Occupational therapy can support:
• Fine motor skills (writing, cutting, grasping)
• Visual motor & visual perceptual skills
• Sensory processing & regulation
• Attention & focus
• Emotional regulation & coping skills
• Self-care skills (dressing, feeding, grooming)
• Hand strength & coordination
• Bilateral coordination (using both sides of the body together)
• Social skills & play skills
• Feeding challenges & picky eating

Copy, place, and create! 🎨

Today in occupational therapy we worked on copying patterns using colorful stickers. This fun activity targets several important developmental skills:

• Fine motor skills – peeling and placing small stickers strengthens finger muscles and precision.
• Visual motor integration – coordinating what the eyes see with how the hands move.
• Visual perception – recognizing colors and patterns and matching them correctly.
• Attention and problem solving – carefully looking at the model and recreating it step by step.

Activities like this help build the foundational skills kids need for handwriting, cutting, and classroom tasks—all while keeping therapy playful and engaging! 💚💗💛
