A good listener, a mentor, and attentive are a few of the ways Dr. Chris Brown was described in his 2021 nominations. Dr. Brown does so much that’s unseen because he works at night. Even with his nighttime work hours, his colleagues and patients take notice of the special care and attention he gives to his work.

Dr. John Thompson received this award in 2020. Throughout the uncertainty this particular year brought, Dr. Thompson took on responsibilities above and beyond his role — never complaining. Reflecting on Dr. Thompson, qualities like honesty, giving, loyalty, availability, approachability and professionalism were used in his nominations. Dr. Thompson continues to be a leader and live out our mission every day.

Dr. Devi Nair and the St. Bernards EP team have made history with the first US commercial launch of procedures using the Kardium Globe Pulse Field system, a revolutionary new treatment for atrial fibrillaton.

Dr. Nair, who participated in the pivotal PULSAR study of the Globe Pulsed Field System, recently presented groundbreaking findings of this clinical trial at the 2025 Heart Rhythm Society annual meeting, showcasing an impressive 78% freedom from reoccurring arrhythmias one year post ablation.

Kevin Chaplin, CEO of Kardium, shared, “ We are proud to partner with leading physicians like Dr. Nair to bring the Globe Pulsed Field system into clinical practice, allowing us to deliver a more personalized treatment for atrial fibrillation to improve long-term outcomes for patients.”

When Dr. Mazen Khalil received the award in 2018, many of his nominations characterized him as compassionate, humble, diligent and giving. All physicians work to be thorough in their practice of medicine, but Dr. Khalil certainly raises the bar. He is known to take extra time for patients, families and team members to feel confident in treatments and care plans, teaching and encouraging along the way.

Congratulations to Dr. Matthew Hendrich and the St. Bernards Vascular Surgery Team.

The St. Bernards Vascular Team successfully placed the region’s first Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis. This new technology allows for preservation of flow to aortic arch vessels while simultaneously repairing proximal aortic aneurysm pathology.
