Her name is Bella and she is AMAZING. At Engage, we are into caring for ALL creatures. Our kids are transformed into learners and lovers when they interact with nature and other non-human creatures. Why?? It is because so many understand what it feels like to be hungry for love, and yet through their educational settings or home settings or peer dynamics, they lost their sense of belonging. To quote one teen: "I just cannot get it right with the people that I love the most." I get it.. I really do. Kids always blame themselves when they experience dejection because of broken attachments. At Engage, we 100% believe in the healing power of caring and giving. I have found my way through grief this way, and I will find it again as I say goodbye to so many that I love. Today, we celebrated Bella finding her furever home. Our promise? To take her back at any point. To help with vet and feed bills when they cannot be met. Their promise? To love her, protect her and never mistreat her for selfish reasons; In essence, to give her belonging. So far, it is 100% a win. Happy Love Day to all of the real lovers; no posers allowed!

We call him RHB (Red-Headed Brodey) bc his peer leader is also named Brody. RHB never ceases to amaze us with his dry sense of humor and his witty written notes. His penmanship is impeccable, and as he emerges into his real self, we have all learned to be his friend. This video from Newsweek speaks volumes given RHBs fear of dogs.. up until now.

"I have never, in 17 years, seen my son voluntarily try or even want to interact with a dog," said his mom, who shared the profound moment online.
