We all know that tummy time is important for babies to develop. As we age, our heads tend to fall forward and our trunk is flexed. Why don’t we continue with tummy time? Performing activities while on your stomach, promotes holding your head up, strengthens your core, and stretches your abdominals and hips; all to improve upright posture. In this video, the focus is improving extension while strengthening the back and stretching the front of the body. With the added arm movements to challenge strength, coordination, gross motor control of full arm movement and fine motor control of wrist/hand movement.

In this video, we are working on maintaining a squat position for an extended time to increase strength and muscular endurance. Cognition and reaction time are challenged by picking up bean bags then scanning to match the correct color target to toss the bean bags. “Squatting is one of the first abilities we develop as a child, and it needs to be one of the last ones we lose as we age.” Your ability to perform a squat is fundamental to how you are able to function throughout your life. Keep squatting!
