Out of the Woods LLC was founded in 2013, but really got moving in 2014 when owner and professional counselor, Cyndy Adeniyi, moved to Jonesboro, Georgia and began working in private practice. The practice focuses on Christian approaches and mental health counseling although persons from a wide range of beliefs and concerns have participated.
Out of the Woods was one of the early users of telemental health. Providing services over the internet to all of Georgia first through Breakthrough and now through Doxy.me. Out of the Woods continues to provide video chat, phone counseling, and counseling through secure instant chat and email.
In an effort to keep counseling affordable, several initiatives were started in 2017. Out of the Woods became a provider for several insurance companies including Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Out of the Woods also became a part of Open Path a referral service dedicated to helping connect those in need with reduced cost providers. A sliding scale was also instituted to assist those dedicated to therapy who are also struggling financially.
In 2018 Out of the Woods moved from it’s small office on South Main Street in Jonesboro to North McDonough Street also in Jonesboro. The new office has provided the opportunity to establish new groups and as one client noted, “There’s a window!”
