I have been interested in fitness along with overall health since my late teens, subsequently becoming a registered nurse. My passion for health and the well-being of others intensified, so I decided to incorporate my medical knowledge and love of good health becoming a fitness instructor. I have taught group classes for over 40 years, which includes teaching military personnel in Europe and the US, at several YMCA’s, private lessons and various fitness studios. I became certified as a Yoga instructor in 2009 and realized the benefits of Yoga for myself and wanted to share Yoga with everyone. My classes are a safe and non-competitive place for all to enjoy. I feel my sense of humor and love of people make me well-suited to lead students of all levels in the practice of Yoga, dance and other fitness classes. I am honored to help bring balance, health and happiness into the lives of others. YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTION
What you can expect to find in my classes is a mix of Hatha and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Both incorporate many of the same poses, but Vinyasa is slightly faster with focus on breathing control while moving in and out of each posture. Whereas, Hatha is slower and each posture is held longer for greater flexibility. My class will flow through postures designed to build internal heat slowly and gently while flowing from pose to pose and linking the movement with the breath. It will focus on strength, flexibility and balance while improving posture, breathing patterns and misalignments common for much of the population. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make full use of the body’s range of motion with sun salutations, standing and seated postures, twists, backbends, forward folds and hip openers. I will offer a variety of modifications to encourage participation of everyone. ALL LEVELS Welcome! What to bring:
