Redings Mill Live Fire Instructors, along with other local agencies, participated in training on the use of the Division of Fire Safety’s live fire props.

This ensures they meet all the safety standards required when teaching new and experienced firefighters alike.

The relics of the fire district are being tested today to ensure they meet fire-pumping standards.

Truck 7 is a 1990 model with 25,050 miles and 466 hours, likely our best pumping truck. Engine 6, a 1998 reserve, has 94,027 miles and 6,987 hours. Our main pumper, Engine 1, is a 2011 with 78,639 miles and 4,830 hours. Both Engines 1 and 6 have had engine rebuilds. It often concerns a chief when these heavily used, experienced trucks are pushed to their limits.

RMFD is Training on the water today. What a great day to have asked for to accomplish these tasks for our agency members to keep their skills fresh. Some new members also learning some simple tasks to be able to help in a pinch on the waters edge. Boat trailering, boat launching, and boat towing were on the menu. Thanks for all that approached and asked questions and chatted with us today!!

With the recent ongoing rains, we face a new set of dangers. Fortunately, wildland fire response numbers remain near zero.

The current risk has shifted to flooding, as several days of heavy rainfall are causing rivers and streams to overflow their banks. Be vigilant about flooding, and respect barricades—these are there for your safety. Allow extra time for travel, and avoid driving into floodwaters, which can delay or even prevent your journey altogether.
