We think about serotonin as helping with mood, but did you know that it’s actually made in your stomach?

In the digestive system, serotonin helps to regulate motility and keep things moving through your digestive tract.

What part of digestion actually takes place in the stomach?

✅Lipase (a digestive enzyme) is released to begin breaking down fats.

✅Gastrin (a hormone) is released in order to control the acidity in your stomach.

Why do you really need stomach acid?

If you struggle with symptoms of acid reflux or GERD, you might think stomach acid is the problem. But it actually plays a vital role in digestion.

Stomach acid helps break down food—including the collagen-rich proteins found in meat. Stomach acid also helps stimulate the production of pepsin, an enzyme that further breaks down proteins.

Dr. Robert’s explains the different ways acid production in the stomach supports the break down of proteins to ensure you have smooth digestion.

Stay tuned for more information coming later this week on the stomach’s role in the digestive process.

Why does the esophagus even matter in digestion?

✅Food takes about 8-10 seconds to travel through the esophagus.
✅The pH level in the esophagus is neutral (unlike the more acidic stomach).
✅Maintaining a neutral pH level in the esophagus is extremely important for preventing acid reflux.

Check out Customized Relief for more information on digestion, acid reflux, and other health-related topics.

Where does digestion really begin?

You may think of the stomach, or the small intestine, but did you know that digestion actually begins in your mouth?

Dr. Roberts explains the mouth’s role in digestion—from mechanical breakdown to the stimulation of amylase and lipase in your saliva.

Why should you care about your body’s digestion?

Digestion does more than just break down food. It helps form the building blocks for communication and neurotransmitters in our body.

Your body can’t function properly without a healthy digestive system, which is why the gut plays such a major role in so many chronic health issues.

Have you been told that eating oatmeal, whole grains, and drinking oat milk is the quick fix to lose weight fast?

That may not be the full picture. In the US, oats and wheat are often soaked in glyphosate—a pesticide sprayed on crops to kill weeds. Glyphosate is identified as an antibiotic according to the US patent for this product.

That means if you consume a wheat product soaked in glyphosate, you are consuming an antibiotic and disrupting your gut flora. This could cause inflammation in your body and ultimately prevent weight loss.

Again, sourcing your food is SO important for a healthy lifestyle. Get to know your local farmers and buy organic and locally when possible.

Are you still struggling to drop the weight even though you’re eating “healthier”?

Sometimes it’s not just what you’re eating—it’s the quality of the food.

Hormones and antibiotics are often given to the cows that produce the dairy and beef we consume. Whatever is given to the cow is stored in the fat and consumed by us, which can greatly increase the inflammation in our bodies. 🐄

👉🏻Finding higher quality sourcing of your food can be extremely impactful in reducing inflammation in your body and improving your overall metabolic health.

Are you tracking calories, but you still just can’t seem to lose the extra weight?

👉🏻The root cause could be the quality of what you’re eating rather than how many calories you are actually taking in.

Restaurants will often cook in seed oils, which are highly processed and pro-inflammatory. This inflammation is what could be leading you to hold onto the extra weight.

🍳Cooking at home with oils such as olive oil or coconut oil could be just the fix you need!

✨Stay tuned for more tips on how to get to the root cause of your weight issues to become a healthier version of yourself.

✨Waking up between 2-4 AM every night?

What actually causes mast cells to plume out histamine? A number of factors could irritate your system and trigger the release of histamine, such as your home, your phone, and even the car you drive.

Three of the major irritants, which can cause this type of reaction in some individuals could be:
❌ Mold Toxins
❌Diesel Fuel Exhaust
❌Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMF)

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms commonly associated with histamine discussed in previous videos, it’s worth looking into your environment.

11/21/2025

Are you experiencing vertigo, migraines, allergies, or anxiety, but you can’t seem to find the root cause?

Dr. Roberts explains that mast cells can disrupt your immune system, triggering the release of histamine, which can lead to these symptoms and more.

Check out Customized Relief for more information on the immune system and other health-related topics.
