My Strange Job

My day consists of touching naked people.
This is not typical job. I often forget because don't see naked people on my table.

I see a relaxed face, wild hair, small deviations in anatomy caused by repetitive daily movements or past injuries.

I see a heartbeat staying steady while a chest slows in its rises and falls.

I feel the direction and restrictions of the muscles under my hands.

I feel the restrictions melt like butter or
spasm into nothing earning the nickname Magic Hands.

I get to be part of my client's
life they enjoy and look forward to.

I get to be the light at the end of a physically demanding week.

I get to enjoy every minute of my career.

The strength and courage Massage Therapy has given me is more than I could ever imagine or explain.

This strange job will be in my life forever.

I wrote this a decade ago. I was already 8 years into my career as an LMT.

Since then I've taken over 100 hours of continuing education and have practiced an unknown amount of hours with my hands (and feet) on people who all have taught me things that have helped my therapy evolve into what it is today.

I still feel so lucky to have found this career so young and have so many people trust me to help improve their quality of movement and relaxation through bodywork.... even if it is a little strange. 🙌

I’m back! ✨

After taking time off to heal from surgery, I’m officially accepting clients again. 🎉

During recovery I not only rested — I also expanded my skills with continuing education, including Arm & Hand SMRT, plus lots of study time to better support your body’s needs.

Appointments are now open with limited availability, and there’s a new waitlist option if your preferred time isn’t available.

I’m feeling strong, grateful, and excited to be back doing what I love. 💛

Well taking my own advice is difficult. I tell all of my post op clients that week 3 and 4 are the hardest because you feel like you should be completely healed and that's just not how the body works.

Tomorrow marks 3 weeks and I did a trial massage today on my mom with lots of modifications. Had to tap out at 15 minutes.
But I did learn that my first sessions back will be no longer than 15 minutes. 😅

I know I'll get back to what I was... just gonna take some time.
