Illinois WIC Formula Change is coming February 1, 2026!

Starting Feb. 1, 2026, Illinois WIC will transition its infant formula from Enfamil to Similac. This change follows federal WIC rules that require periodic formula selection for best value.

The change will roll out over three months, with all families fully transitioned by May 1, 2026. Families will receive Similac at their regular WIC appointments.

Important update on Illinois SNAP benefits!

Following a court order today, the federal government will fund only half of SNAP benefits in November. The federal government’s decision to fund reduced benefits will make it significantly more complicated for states to issue the funds, which will delay November SNAP benefits to households by days or weeks.

Benefits left on cards from previous months can still be used, but new benefits will be less than in prior months and will be delayed by the federal government.

IDHS is exploring how payments will work in Illinois and will keep customers updated on this evolving situation.
