Thank you to Key Coalition advocates, a non-profit, statewide group supporting individuals with disabilities, their families and support system. I’m pictured here with all these advocates. They are championing critical initiatives, including expanding infant learning programs, modernizing Alaska’s guardianship statute, improving access to transportation, eliminating waitlists within the Department of Health, and requiring universal changing spaces in public buildings for older children, teens and adults. Their advocacy emphasizes the importance of ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to live as independently as possible.

Booking an accessible room at a Marriott hotel is about to become easier.

Following an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Marriott will be making several changes to improve accessibility:

𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Accessible rooms will be accurately listed and available on Marriott's central system and major booking sites (like Expedia).

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀: Marriott hotel websites will show all accessible rooms in one place.

𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: More accessible rooms will be available to book using Marriott Bonvoy points.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳: Call center staff will receive training on handling accessible room requests.

𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: Marriott will track guest complaints about booking accessible rooms to ensure continuous improvement.

This is a big win for equal access!
