AK, received her Type C School Counselor certification in 1997, and her counseling license in 2000. She has more than 20 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, working with patients who are experiencing varying degrees of trauma, depression, anxiety, autism, and personality disorders. She is also working toward certification for a beginning level of somatic experiencing. Colleen’s counseling expertise has drawn many patients to her practice, but successful therapy requires more than just a good education. Colleen has a unique blend of compassion and understanding, and she offers her patients a level of unconditional support that allows them to open up and truly begin the process of healing. As a school counselor, Colleen has a particular affinity for children, working with young patients in urban and rural schools across the Juneau region. She has helped both children and teenagers cope with emotional disturbances, chronic mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries. She offers both individual and group counseling sessions and has worked with many local families, helping them handle many challenges together.
