SCOLIOSIS FACTS:
🦴Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that tends to occur during the adolescent growth spurt
🦴It occurs more commonly in girls than in boys
🦴During your child’s check up, your physician examines the spine to detect uneven shoulder height, rib hump, waist asymmetry and any hip hike
🦴Treatment varies based on the degree of the curvature. Options include monitoring, physical therapy, bracing and in extreme cases surgery
🦴A bone healthy diet is vital for optimal growth. In addition to calcium and vitamin D, magnesium, boron, manganese and Vitamin K are essential nutrients for bone health and growth
