Dr. Ricardo Mejia is one of the only M.D.’s that is fellowship trained in hair transplantation, board certified in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is an experienced dermatologic surgeon whose primary goal is to produce world class hair restoration with proven consistent hair growth and hair yield. He is one of the only Medical Doctors to be featured in a 30 minute CNN Live Broadcast on hair loss and hair transplantation that was broadcast in the U.S. His emphasis is on ultra refined hair transplantation to provide quality results, undetectable hairlines and density in a single, one-pass session. He is one of few physicians certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and one of few who has completed an intensive fellowship in hair restoration surgery. He is published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and has served as faculty instructor at the Live Hair Transplant Surgery Workshops. He attends and speaks regularly at meetings for the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgeons. He is also the scalp dermatology columnists for the Physician Hair Forum publication. As ISHRS President, I traveled to Tashkent, Uzbekistan for the Los Angeles Hair Restoration Courses – Tashkent Edition 2025.

During the gala celebration, I was honored to receive an award recognizing my participation as faculty and, as President, representing the ISHRS internationally.

Moments like this remind me of the strength of the hair restoration community and I am grateful to be a part of it.

The ISHRS is an umbrella organization for a Global Council of over 24 hair restoration societies around the world. As ISHRS President this year, Dr. Mejia has focused on the theme of unity collaborating in meetings with hair restoration surgeons globally, including other organizations which are not a part of the Global Council.

He has immersed himself in a myriad of activities which include:
- Traveling to Uzbekistan for a meeting hosted by ISHRS member, Dr. Sanusi Umar.
- Preparing for the ISHRS World Congress in Berlin in October
- A hair transplant repair workshop in Bucharest Romania Chaired by Drs. Felix Popescu & Marco Barusco in November in collaboration with the ISHRS.

This past weekend, Dr. Mejía attended the “1º Encontro Latino-Americano de Restauração Capilar (ELARC)” in São Paulo, Brazil hosted by the ABCRC. He believes these hair restoration meetings are invaluable for learning and connection with colleagues and many who are great friends.

He had the honor of serving as faculty where he presented his talk, “Top Case,” during the session: Learning from the Experts. It focused on surgeons recognizing and managing complications effectively.
