The trails were full, the energy was high, and the community showed up in an incredible way. 🌿👟

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual Roots & Ruts Off-Road 5K at The Els Center of Excellence. From our runners who took on the course, to the families who came out to enjoy the Sensory-Friendly Obstacle Course and Post-Race Expo, this day wouldn’t have been the same without you.

We’re especially grateful to our generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers whose time, effort, and support made this event possible. Because of you, we were able to create a fun, inclusive experience for all.

Thank you for being part of it. đź’™

Construction has begun on what will be the first sports and recreation complex in the United States specifically designed for autistic people.

Built by Els for Autism — a nonprofit founded by PGA golfer Ernie Els, whose son has autism — the facility broke ground in August 2025. It will be the first to meet ASPECTSS compliance, a research-based architectural framework for autism that addresses sensory processing, acoustics, lighting, and predictability in physical spaces.

The complex will include a purpose-built gymnasium, an aquatics centre for water safety and swim instruction, and a splash pad — all designed to reduce sensory overload and give autistic people year-round access to sport and recreation in an environment built for them, not adapted around them.

It’s not a modification. It’s a first.

“The love and attention Stephen receives from Every 1 at Els for Autism has changed him; he feels welcomed, loved, praised, and wants to go every day,” shares Donna Pickett. 💙

For Donna, watching her son Stephen grow has been a journey filled with gratitude and change. Through his time in our Adult Day Training program, she’s seen him become more confident, more engaged, and excited to be part of a community where he truly belongs.

“His family and I are so very proud of the beautiful young adult he has become, and we just love the fact that Adult Services has contributed to this journey for him.”

Since transitioning into our Adult Day Training program, Emmett has taken steps toward greater independence, and his growth has been incredible to watch. đź’™

Through his work in both the retail shop and pro shop, Emmett stays engaged in tasks like organizing shirts by color and size, and sorting golf bracelets. By following a structured schedule, he is building focus, confidence, and a strong sense of accomplishment each day.

Our clients are supported with individualized plans and hands-on experiences that help them build skills for everyday life.

When you look closer, every milestone is made possible by a community that cares. Because at Els for Autism, Every 1 Matters. ✨

We’re grateful to recognize Al Hough today, whose ongoing generosity helps support life-changing programs at Els for Autism. 💙 Al has seen this impact firsthand through his grandson, Collin, who is part of our Adult Day Training program.

“As Collin’s grandpa, I proudly support the Adult Day Training program at Els for Autism as a monthly donor, having seen firsthand the positive impact it has had on Collin’s life. I understand how vital the program’s consistency is, along with the daily activities that help support Collin’s growth and well-being.”

Everyday moments, both big and small, help shape confidence, independence, and purpose within our Adult Services department. 💙 Today, we’re excited to spotlight Brooke Teta, our Adult Day Training (ADT) Program Manager.

“Building connections with clients and watching their confidence grow is one of the most rewarding parts of this work,” Brooke shares. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves, make choices, and feel a sense of purpose in their day.”

Through ADT, individuals are supported in exploring their strengths, making choices, and building skills that carry into daily life. With Brooke’s leadership, these experiences become more than routine; they become opportunities for growth, self-expression, and connection.

Brooke is part of the dedicated team helping make these moments possible, because at Els for Autism, Every 1 Matters.
