MOMMIES and DADDIES! Head lice is running rampant throughout the school's. Public, Private, preschool, elementary, especially middle school and high school! Check your children's heads. You're looking for tiny brown specks (lice eggs are not white) super glued to the hair very close to the scalp. It is easiest to spot on lighter colored hair. Look in the baby hairs around the hair line. Tiny brown specks that can be mistaken for dirt or sand. You want to catch it as early as possible. Most lice cases are not caught until 2-3 weeks into it because the symptom of itching doesn't occur until then. Also, only %50 of people that have head lice have itchiness. Just because they aren't itching doesn't mean that they do not have lice.

If you have a lice comb, use it to check the heads. Dampen the hair, add a bit of any conditioner, comb out tangles with a regular brush and then comb through the hair with the lice comb. From scalp through the ends. Every few swipes wipe the lice comb on a white paper towel. Look for tiny brown specks and/or bugs.

If you do find something, DO NOT PANIC! No need to super clean your home or bag anything up.

If you see something and not sure if it's lice related, text me a pic 561-222-7901

I don't get it! How the f**k do these lice products like Nix and Rid get by with selling products that do absolutely nothing?? They make billions of dollars selling a product, that has been researched and proven by entomologist, to not work! I see the failures mutliple times a day. Kids treated with NIX the night before and still have multiple live bugs running from my comb. And those kits aren't cheap. They will cost a good $25-$35 AND THEY DO NOT WORK..
How have they not been sued for false advertisement? It makes me sad and frustrated because I have worked my butt off for years making my own product that DOES work. It %100 kills all live lice bugs, it does not contain nasty pesticides, no yucky chemicals and lice can never become resistant to it. Yet no one knows about it. Because it is made by me, in my kitchen

I'm so frustrated... I just want to cry 😫

👋 PSA: Head lice is running rampant throughout our local schools. From preschool to high school. Check your kids and if you do find lice DO NOT USE THE DRUG STORE KITS. They are an absolute waste of money and time. It hurts my heart to see these parents spending so much time, money and aggravation only for them to come to see me after so many failed attempts. It isn't your fault, it is because the product absolutely doesn't work and they set you up for failure every single time causing you to purchase more of their product.

Just PLEASE PLEASE stop using the drugstore kits. They are causing more lice to spread amongst classmates, friends and family members.

Also, talk to your child's friends. Especially middle and high school girls. They are passing it around their friend group because they do not want to tell their friends that they have lice. When in reality, they all have lice and will continually pass it back and forth to each other. They all need to be checked/treated in roughly the same time period so that the lice madness will stop.

Ok. One more time, DO NOT USE DRUGSTORE KITS..

Thanks for attending my TED talk 😉

How to recognize head lice

Why is head lice so hard to recognize?

Unfortunately detecting head lice is extremely difficult and very few cases are as obvious as this to recognize.

Contracting head lice after vacations and breaks from school is very common.

This article is going to focus on how to detect head lice on you and your family. While Louse Calls Lice Raiders, LLC offers house calls as well as clinic services, it may not always be feasable to enlist in professional services.

So let’s get to it- how can you recognize head lice?

1. Itching on the scalp, neck or behind the ears. The itchy feeling mimics that of mosquito bites. It actually feels like you may have mosquito bites on your scalp, behind your ears or on your neck. Here is the downfall for using only this method to determine the presence of head lice-not everyone has an allergic reaction to the saliva that is left behind from a lice bite. Similar to mosquito bites, not everyone feels the itch from the bite.

2. Red bumps, rash or the appearance of “bites” on the back of the neck or behind the ears is another huge sign of head lice. Lice bugs tend to hang out and feed on the back of the neck and behind the ears. This leaves visible red bumps and/or a red rash-thus very visible when looking for this sign.

3. Of course the appearance of bugs or eggs (nits) in the hair is a definite sign of head lice. This task is much easier said than done. There are a few reasons why this is so difficult to detect. Lice eggs are often the same color of the hair, so they are camoflaged. Bugs are usually even harder to see as they shy away from the light. However, if someone has a very infestation of head lice, often you may see movement and eggs that appear iradescent or “white” in the hair. A true test if you suspect a lice egg is too remove it and put it against white paper and it will pop out as brown and oval.

4. Get a lice comb. Use it by combing against the scalp, sprinkle it over plain white paper. Look what pops out on the paper. If there is lice in the head, you will see bugs or eggs on the white paper. Send us a photo at LouseCalls Lice Raiders. Having head lice can be fun!! I had a great time with this family. The kids were very interested about head lice. I brought out my hand held microscope and we examined everything about them. The bugs, the eggs, their life cycle, how they spread. I was not able to fully treat Mom when they came in as a family due to time restraints, so mom had to come back the next day to finish the treatment. I was excited to see that the children joined her, not because they needed to but because they had so much fun they wanted to come back ❤️

Guess what time it is? It's head lice season 🐜 but not to worry. Here are some helpful tips to keep the critters away:

- Keeping the hair back in braids and buns is the best way to keep lice away. Adding a peppermint spray to that braid or bun is an added protection. No need for scented shampoos or conditioners. They aren't very effective against lice. But they do smell good 😉

- August and September are busy times for head lice infections so be on the look out and KEEP THE HAIR BACK.

-Middle school aged girls share and spread lice more so then preschool and elementary aged children. Yep. You read that correctly. Just when you thought your child was growing out of the lice stage when going to middle school. Nope. You're entering the head lice danger zone

-Head lice is spread through hair to hair contact. Hair has to be touching for lice to spread from person to person. Sharing hair brushes is the second most common way to spread head lice. They do not jump or fly. This is why it's important to KEEP THE HAIR BACK. Head lice can not infest your home. No need to bag things up for weeks and no need to super clean your home.

-If head lice is discovered skip the drug store kits like Nix and RID because they do not work and are just a waste of time and money

-It's best to always have a good lice comb on hand. A lice comb is the most important and most effective tool for removing and preventing a lice infection. I recommend the Nit Free Terminator Comb.

-Nits/lice eggs are a brown or tan in color. They are not white.

-Do not waste your time on home remedies. Seriously. Don't do it. They do not work. If getting rid of head lice was as simple as smearing mayonnaise in your hair, head lice would of been eradicated a loooong time ago 🤷‍♀️

-I have to say this one more time KEEP HAIR BACK. It's so simple yet so difficult to do. If all kids kept their hair back, I would seriously be out of a job

The Lice Raiders - We are here to provide an honest and informative helping hand to anyone who is struggling with head lice

So Why Should You Choose The Lice Raiders for Head Lice Treatment and Nit Removal? It’s Simple, Really …

All Natural: Over the counter products only offer 54% guarantee of effective lice removal. Most over-the-counter products contain pyrethrins. Pyrethrins are active pesticides that have contributed greatly to the evolution of head lice. Due to long term exposure to these pesticides, lice have developed new strengths that allow them to withstand their application deeming them "Super Lice".

The only way to absolutely, %100 eliminate an infestation is by removing them from the hair. And that is exactly what we do. We remove them.
