Dr. Mejia’s training is extensive having a degree in biomedical engineering, fellowship in hair transplantation surgery, and a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
School and the University of Kansas Medical Center Dermatology Residency Program. He is a
member of a variety of distinguished societies including the American Academy of Dermatology,
International Society for Hair Restoration Surgeons, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons. Dr. Mejia has performed thousands of Mohs and plastic surgery reconstructions. Dr. Mejia is one of the only MD’s in the nation that is Board Certified in dermatology and dermatologic surgery and a Diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration surgery having

After surgically removing a squamous cell carcinoma, Dr. Mejia sometimes uses the UltraClear laser to target any potential microscopic recurrence. This laser—typically used for skin rejuvenation—creates tiny vaporizing channels deep in the skin to help reduce recurrence risk.

🔬As a final step, the coring mode delivers deeper thermal energy to create a coagulation zone, adding another layer of treatment. While not a guaranteed cure, these techniques help lower recurrence risk. The patient will be closely monitored.

Procedure: Cyst Drainage
This patient came in with a small cyst and left with a big relief after it was removed.. Even though it may look surprising, Dr. Mejia removed it through a very small incision—minimizing her scarring and maximizing her comfort.
