Happy National Hugging Day! 💛🐴

Today we’re celebrating the simple power of a hug, and at Queen of Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center, that often looks like warm arms wrapped around a gentle horse.

Our horses have a special way of helping people feel safe, seen, and calm. Sometimes without a single word. These quiet moments of connection are why this work matters so much.

Sending hugs to our participants, families, volunteers, donors, and community… and an extra squeeze to the horses who give their hearts every day.

Did You Know:

Why do horses sleep standing up (and why they still need to lie down)

Horses can doze standing up thanks to a special “stay apparatus” in their legs, like a natural locking system that lets them rest without collapsing. But here’s the secret: for deep REM sleep, horses still have to lie down. That’s why a safe, peaceful environment matters. When a horse chooses to lay down, it’s a sign they feel secure.
