FOUND!!! Mahalo mahalo mahalo to everyone in the community. Our community is soo amazing and in the time of need, everyone came to support my mom and her business!!! My mom received a call that the excavator was found. We do not have any details yet, but will keep everyone posted. Again, mahalo to everyone for sharing and spreading the word!!! Without each and everyone of you, this could not have happened. We are forever grateful to have our community on our side!!!

Please Kokua! My moms mini Kubota excavator was stolen from our farm in Punaluu around 2:00 am this morning. My parents have worked extremely hard to save for this equipment for their farm. As you all know, my mom is a native Hawaiian farmer and small business owner. She has worked extremely hard, along with my dad, on their farm. This is completely devastating for our ’ohana and we ask if everyone can keep an eye out for it. Mahalo for your support.

Aloha to our mamaki ohana, we would like to mahalo each and everyone of you for your continued support. And for trusting our organic certified farm grown mamaki. From seed to plant to you. We do it all.
In the pictures you'll notice a red flower. That can only mean one thing. It's the time of the season for ohi'a ai, or mountain apple. The crisp, sweet, tart flavor of a ono (delicious) mountain apple on a hot summer's day hits the spot! The fruit tree brought by canoe to Hawai'i by early Polynesian voyages can be found growing wild in wet forests. Sometimes white, a lot of times red, either way. After all these years, it's still an island favorite!

Aloha kakou! Yes it has been awhile since we last posted. We got hit hard this past holiday season(in a good way) delivering our organic certified mamaki and our blends to everyone with a yearning taste of our truly special mamaki grown on Oahu in the valley of Punalu'u. We take the seeds from our organic mamaki, propagate, grow til harvest. Then hand pick, clean and dry the mamaki leaves in our certified dry house with food grade screens and shelving. In ensure only the best for our friends and customers.
The tree seen here is one of the most useful plants introduced by the first human voyagers to Hawai'i. The kukui or lamp tree grows abundantly in our tropical climate and easily distributes itself in the forest on all the major Hawaiian islands. The bark was burnt and turned into a black dye for tattooing. The nuts are a source of oil for torch making. Applied topically, it's great for skin and hair and wood staining. The sap from the nuts can be used for gum numbing, the leaves for burns, flowers for a hangover. The roasted kukui can be slightly grounded with pa'akai (coarse sea salt) and be used for a perfect addition to raw fish to make the perfect poke for any lu'au.

Aloha kakou! It's been awhile since our last post. Sorry, but we have been so busy filling orders. It ain't easy being someone who takes a product from farm to table.
Here are a few pictures of some ulu, or bread fruit. A prized plant for its many uses which includes food, gum, glue, sandpaper, and food. Yea, I said food twice because it's so ono(delicious)!

Aloha kakou. This night is lit up in Hawai'i nei with this big bright hina (moon). But it's so still and voggy. If the vog has got you down, try the mamaki/ uhaloa blend, it may help you. If you have any questions about us or our products and would like to talk to us one on one, you are in luck because we will be at Na Mea at Ward shopping center tomorrow between 10am-12pm. Aloha kakou. It is but a cold day on O'ahu and quite windy. We would like to remind everyone to be safe and stay in doors... of course with a big cup of mamaki!
The flower you see belongs to the native Hawaiian white hibiscus or koki'o ke'oke'o or koki'o kea. It has a delicate fragrance when the flower first blooms. Ancient hawaiians would use the buds as a laxative. And the fibers of this tree were used to make cordage to tie parcels and the ma'a or hawaiian battle sling amongst other things.

Aloha kakou! It has been a very productive, busy year. And as 2016 comes to a close, we would like to send the warmest mahalo from us to you. Look for reasons to take time in your day to enjoy life's simple pleasures and of course with a cup of our farm grown, USDA certified organic mamaki! On behalf of Mamaki Native Hawaiian Herbal Tea, Happy Holidays!
The ua (rain) you see falling is one of two most sacred types of wai (water) to hawaiians. Reason is the water comes from a source that isn't from the aina (land). Can you figure out the second one? Stay tuned for the answer.

Aloha kakahiaka! We hope everyone is having a wonderful day! A simple gesture, a warm embrace, a kiss of sunshine... simple things like words and positive phrases can be the difference between having a bad day and a great day. This is a Hawaiian way of thinking, and the Hawaiian way of farming. Just a reminder, we grow our plants ourselves. On our orchard. In beautiful Punalu'u, 'Oahu. The plant seen here is a hawaiian variety of awa or kava or kava kava. A famous plant in olden times, prized for its intoxicating effects. It still makes a strong hold in its place in modern day society for it's spiritual and soothing effects. Unfortunately, most people who try awa and don't care for it, have been victim to an imported variety of poor quality. If you ever have a chance to try fresh awa, especially a hawaiian variety, your perception of this special plant will change. I promise!

Aloha kakou! We hope everyone is doing well if not great on this beautiful Friday morning in Hawai'i. Sending a little love everyone's way. We look at the Hawaiian forest preserve and see how it shares similarities with our modern world. From all the invasive species to chaos and problems in the world...if you look hard enough, you will still find things that make it special and so beautiful! This is a ohi'a with its summer lehua in bloom on O'ahu. Unfortunately, on the Hawai'i island (Big Island), it's sad to think this tree could become extinct in our lifetime due to a uncontrollable disease.

Aloha to all and everyone. Young and old, past to present, where ever you may be. It is a beautiful day in Hawai'i nei. With ua li'ili'i, it makes you realize how the smallest things can mean so much. A little Punalu'u mist to water a mamaki, some sun, and a lot of mana goes into farming a high quality organic certified mamaki from Punalu'u, O'ahu that you can only get from us!

Aloha kakou! It is a beautiful day in Punalu'u on 'Oahu. It is such a blessing to have great weather where our plants can thrive organically. We don't pick wild, but rather farm. What's the difference you ask? Well, remember when you could go to Ewa beach(southwest 'Oahu beach) and find an amazing source of limu. Or when you could go hiking, and find lots of native Hawaiian plants and find lots of opae(fresh water shrimp) in the streams? Not any more. Over harvesting of our native resources goes against ancient hawaiian practices. "Take what you need". "Leave the place better than when you got there". It's hard to believe that simple actions have devastating affects. The picture here is the native Hawaiian bidens, or ko'oko'olau. We have found the one that taste and grows the best. And slowly we are building our supply so that we may share this special plant's unique flavor with everyone. Aloha!
