Congratulations, Rusty! Rusty Olney recently received SDCF's Hometown Hero award for the community of Kadoka from Jamie Farmen, SDCF Community Development Coordinator.

Rusty offered a $100,000 match to Kadoka if they would raise $100,000 locally. They met this challenge in 5 months.

Our Hometown Heroes are recognized for their generosity in providing resources to enhance the quality of life in their community. They have created funds to change and enrich the lives of their neighbors, while signifying their faithful commitment to the place they call home.

Merry Christmas friends! I will be making goodie trays for order. Some items included will be gingersnaps, frosted sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, mexican crinkles, fudge, bing candy and scotcharoos. 2 dozen for $25 or 4 dozen for $50. Message me to order by Wednesday December 17. I’ll deliver on Tuesday the 23rd.

Kadoka Area Foundation Surpasses Major Fundraising Milestones, Looks Ahead to $500K Goal
KAF, a community savings account with the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF), has successfully met two major fundraising challenges, securing a total of $190,000 in matching gifts to build a permanent source of funding for local charitable causes.

Through the generosity of many donors and community members, KAF raised $100,000 between April and August 2025 to meet a $100,000 challenge from Rusty Olney and an additional $50,000 match from SDCF. KAF also achieved a second challenge by raising $40,000 to receive an additional $40,000 match from Casey and Kathryn Peterson of Rapid City, SD.
