Choosing Brazil to give birth to Koa was choosing to be held.
It was choosing to be surrounded by my support system, my family, the people who know my heart, who could hold me as I crossed this sacred threshold into motherhood.
Birth is not only the arrival of a baby. It is the rebirth of a woman. And I knew I wanted to walk through that portal in a place where love lives in every corner, where care is natural, where I would never feel alone.
In Brazil, Koa was welcomed not just by me, but by my family and my friends. By arms ready to hold him, voices ready to sing to him, and hearts already deeply connected to his existence.
There is something deeply powerful about bringing life into the world where you, too, were once held. Where your nervous system recognizes safety. Where your soul can soften.
Brazil gave me the gift of presence. Of family. Of belonging. Of being supported so I could fully open and welcome my son.
We will return to Hawai‘i as soon as I feel ready, back to the home I consciously chose, carrying with us the strength, love, and grounding that Brazil has given us.
Koa was born surrounded by love. And so was I.
