“You can’t put a bandaid on a wound that needs surgery, you need to let the Doctor operate.“ - Kealoha’aina Richard
✨
In Christianity there’s a stigma that’s tripping up believers: maneuvering around pain, rather than facing it. I call it the Jesus bandaid effect. When I tell you this I need you to know, I can’t (no one has the ability) to minimize the power of God, the word or worship- but this Jesus bandaid is when we have a wound and instead of actually allowing God to show us what caused it, and how to heal it, we slap a quick bandage on it and shout “WERE GOOD” and keep on truckin’ through the busyness of life. We think it’s bad to be anything but joyful happy & productive and we walk around with masks on our grieving faces and bandaids on our gaping wounds. Hyping ourselves up as much as we can by staying busy, worshipping more, praying harder or louder, reading the Bible religiously but never taking a moment to sit in silence, to get self aware, sit in the pain, allow ourselves to feel, and get healing into the areas we’re suffering.
*** There are certain times, situations, and seasons where we are absolutely to weak and inhibited to face anything- there’s grace for those seasons and tons of compassion- and I urge you not to ever force yourself to deal with what you’re not ready to deal with!***
But I’m talking to the person who is reading this post from a lense of readiness.
