Dr. Jacob Head purchased the practice 2007. Dr. Head is
from Kona, in fact his parents still live on the family farm in South Kona. Together with his wife and his children he has come back to the Big Island to give back to the community that helped make him who he is today. After Graduating From CSU in Fort Collins, Colorado, Dr. Head completed a small animal/ surgical internship in New Mexico. He worked in a veterinary emergency hospital for 8.5 years. Dr. Head was a Medical Director for a VCA Hospital in Washington State, prior to moving back to the Big Island. Dr. Jacob Head has been voted Best Veterinarian in West Hawaii for the last 4 years. In addition to his Internship after Veterinary School, Dr. Head has taken basic and advanced surgery courses allowing him to offer surgeries that were not previously available on the Big Island. He provides general wellness care, and he also performs extensive surgery, fracture repairs, bone plating, knee surgery, including the TTA knee. He was the first doctor in Hawaii to become certified to perform this surgery. Dr. Jacob Head performs back surgery, PDA heart surgery, oncology, extensive soft tissue surgery and more. Keauhou Veterinary Hospital is a fully digital practice and offers Electronic Medical Records, Digital Radiology, Digital Dental Radiology, Ultrasound, in house chemistry, CBC, PT/PTt and more. The hospital is fully equipped providing the highest quality medicine available to your pets. The hospital is also equipped with a CardioPET to help us perform cardiology work ups, this information is sent to a boarded cardiologist on the mainland and can be reviewed with in an hour.
