National Sleep Week Wrap-Up 😴

This week we explored how sleep affects our bodies—from melatonin and cortisol to growth hormone and hunger hormones like leptin and ghrelin. Sleep plays a critical role in your mental health, physical health, energy, and focus.

Prioritizing 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night can improve mood, strengthen immunity, support heart health, and enhance memory.

💤 Good sleep is not a luxury—it’s essential for overall well-being.

Let’s continue building healthy sleep habits beyond National Sleep Week! 🌙

🟢 Leptin – signals that you are full
🟠 Ghrelin – signals that you are hungry

When you don’t get enough sleep:
⬇️ Leptin decreases
⬆️ Ghrelin increases

This can make you feel hungrier and crave more high-calorie foods the next day.

Getting enough quality sleep helps keep these hormones balanced and supports healthy eating habits.

Sleep is when your body repairs and grows. 💤

During deep sleep, your body releases growth hormone, which helps with:
Muscle repair
Tissue growth
Metabolism
Overall recovery

When we don’t get enough quality sleep, this important process can be disrupted.

Prioritizing good sleep habits helps your body recover, restore, and function at its best.

We hope you're all enjoying your spring break and getting some well-deserved rest!
