Slower speeds, people playing Mario Kart in the lanes, leaving an extra 30 minutes early to wipe off the car and shovel the driveway… just to do it all over again tomorrow.

Some gifts are more than things... they’re love.

A client surprised me with a belated Christmas gift that ended up being the only one I opened this year. From therapist humor, to much-needed hand care, to her legendary from-scratch Chex Mix… it meant so much.

✨Why the Pain You Feel Isn’t Always the Problem

One of the most common patterns I’m seeing right now is this:

👉 Clients come in feeling intense tension or pain on one side of the body…

but the true source is often on the opposite side.
The body is incredibly good at compensating.

When one area is weak, restricted, or overloaded, another area steps in to help. Over time, that compensation creates pulling, guarding, and imbalance, and that is usually where discomfort shows up.

So the pain you feel isn’t always the cause.
It’s often the reaction.

💆‍♀️ What this can look like:
• One-sided neck or shoulder pain caused by opposite-side restriction
• Low back tension that’s driven by hip or leg imbalance
• Chronic tightness that doesn’t fully release when only the “sore spot” is worked
• A feeling of being twisted, uneven, or unable to fully relax on the table

💡 Why this matters:
If we only chase the painful area, relief can be temporary.
When we address how the body is compensating, sessions become more effective, and changes last longer.

This is why my work focuses on patterns, not just points of pain.

Looking at both sides of the body allows it to rebalance, release, and move with more ease.
