Most of us cannot imagine the devastation of getting this call. For Reese, she has been living with this reality since August 6th.
“On August 6th, my sister Reese was at work when she got the devastating call that no one ever expects: her apartment had caught fire. In just moments, she lost everything. Every memory-filled belonging, every part of her daily life... gone.
But what’s been the hardest to even begin to put into words is that she also lost her two beloved cats... her babies, her companions, her emotional support, Bigfoot & Benny. They were truly like children to her, and their absence has left a pain that runs deep and raw.
We’re raising funds to help Reese in numerous ways. To help cover the fees of salvaging or disposing of her belongings, and her cost of living as she finds a new apartment. And to help her rebuild her home, comfort, and security. There’s so much to replace: clothing, furniture, kitchenware, essentials, and those little things that make a place feel like home.“
Reese was an early member at KBY. Though she now lives afar, she still is so much a part of our story, our history, and our community. We are asking our community to come together and show Reese love and support through donations.
Two tenants of our mission has always been “to build community, and foster well-being”. Supporting Reese now would be an embodiment of these tenants. When we put our beliefs to action, that is when real community puts its roots down deep.
