We were very excited to host our 2022 Van Leire Symposium in the Olmsted Room this year. This was the first time since 2019 that we were able to gather in person to celebrate the SIP work done by our majors. It was great to see all the hard work and dedication that went into their research and posters.

It was great to see so many familiar faces back on campus during the Psych Alum Homecoming Party yesterday. The weather was perfect, the chili was tasty, but renewing old friendships was the best.

Maggie Wardle was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend on the campus of Kalamazoo College. Merrill Shattuck knew Maggie and to honor her life and to show the importance of Maggie’s death on her own life she sent flowers to sit on Maggie’s bench (outside Stetson).

This is the 20th anniversary of Maggie’s death; these flowers, sent by Merrill, will hopefully remind us of the importance of speaking out when we see someone victimized by intimate violence.

Maggie’s family has a webpage devoted to intimate violence as well as telling Maggie’s story; in honor of the 20th anniversary, take time to visit their website and to share it with anyone you know who might be a victim of intimate violence.

Thanks, Merrill for helping us remember.

K Psych Alums: We are hosting our annual K Psych Alum Homecoming Party this Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm. Once again, it will be at the home of Sally Warner Read (K 08) at 1548 Henderson. This year, we’re having a chili cook off so we will need plenty of unbiased judges.

Let us know if you might be able to make it by to catch up and share some food & drink!
