INTRODUCING OUR S*X THERAPISTS!
Allyn Witchell, LMFT
Nicole Parker, LMSW
These two ladies recently completed a very intensive program, bringing more therapeutic resources than before!
Each was asked to share about their training and plans:
Nicole said, "It was 1 year of training. It’s important to me because I feel as a society we haven’t historically done a great job educating people about s*x. Not just s*x in the bedroom, but our body’s response to anything s*xual. Even acknowledging menopausal changes in women there is so much our body goes through that we as a culture just don’t normalize. Knowledge is power and people deserve to have the knowledge.
-I plan to use this training to help Individuals who are feeling frustrated with how their mind and/or body may or may not be responding in the bedroom. Often times people have feelings of shame or guilt around s*xual identity, s*xual preference, communication in the bedroom, and cultural and/or societal expectations that inhibit their ability to reach their own s*xual satisfaction. S*x is a part of the human experience that plays a role in how individuals experience the world. I’m excited to normalize s*x in my work and empower others in reaching their goals."
Allyn said, "90 hours of Core S*xual Health Knowledge, and 60 hours of Training as a S*x Therapist.
I am trained to work with individuals and lovers to help navigate challenges with s*xuality, identity, s*xual dysfunction, chronic illness relating to s*xuality, pregnancy, post partum, and menopause, and improve communication in those relationship to best serve all involved.
This was an incredibly important training because every person, at all ages, has a s*xuality. It is incredibly important that we welcome and encourage s*xuality into a therapeutic space to care for this part of ourselves and to move away from our societies history of shame and avoidance relating to anatomy, gender, intimacy, and connection.
I plan to use this training to better support couples and relationships experiencing s*xual dysfunction, help individuals struggling with out of control s*xual behaviors, folk exploring their own identity and breaking down shame and unsupportive beliefs about themselves. I hope to be a positive resource in our community to connect folk to our many amazing providers to support their s*xual wellness journeys."
Allyn and Nicole, thank you for your commitment to your clients, present and future. Your team is proud of you and we are grateful that you invested the time you did into further developing yourselves as clinicians.
